REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.
Because Ellen Burstyn's performance was edited to bits.
Because its MTV sensationalism.
Because of Jared Leto.
Because of its dumbass "drugs are bad" message. Really? I didn't know that!
Because of that condescending, stupid scene where Burstyn gets eaten by a refrigerator...not to mention the floating muffins.
Because Aronhacksky was clearly getting off on showing the degradation of it all, especially at the end.
Because intelligent people I know seemed to think it was a great movie for all of the above reasons. They didn't talk about the message or what it was about, just the sensational bits: The dildo, the amputated arm, etc.
I hate that fawking movie.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
