Are you saying he should be given a pass?
He's a liar.
Dem or Repug, I'm sick of lying politicians and hope he gets what's coming.

Saw a clip of him somewhere on tv yesterday and he tried to gloss over it. He didn't do too good of a job.

As a CT Resident, I am pissed!Blumenthal is toast. May as well give Linda Mcmahon Dodd's seat now.I've seen numerous clips where he said he served "in" Vietnam.Amazing how a single word can make a difference. Served "in" Vietnam vs. served "During" Vietnam. So, he killed his chances because he either lied or was to stupid to realize the difference. The election was his to lose.He is done. Finished. We don't have another Democratic candidate who polled as well as Blumenthal.Time will tell, but I do not see how he can recover from this.I'm hoping another candidate steps forward who can manage NOT to lie.

Well, he's in the middle of a press conference now, surrounded by dozens of veterans whom he has spoken with and to at various veterans events...
They say they never heard him say he served in Vietnam, (he served in the Marine Corps reserves during the Vietnam era.) They say he always states he was in the reserves. They believe he misspoke and did not intentionally misrepresent anything.
We'll see how it plays out, but I think Dick's not gonna quit.
To answer your question Taz, I didn't say he should be given a pass. I said he was a good guy.
I don't like lying politicians anymore than you do. I think the majority of those who have heard him speak at veterans events believe he misspoke and didn't lie.

Well, take your pick. We have video of him saying HE DID NOT SERVE IN VIETNAM and video of him saying HE DID SERVE IN VIETNAM.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3KgsgRfjhQ
There are several videos of him where he says HE DID serve vs. one of him saying HE DID NOT serve.
I like Richard Blumenthal. He is very well liked,I feel he is a man of integrity, and would b a great senator. However, I have to hold him by the same standards as anyone else.I hope I am wrong. I hope he can manage to bounce back from this. However, I know Linda Mcmahon is a sneaky slimy snake who will use this to her advantage and if Dick is dumb enough to give her his head on a silver platter, than he deserves what he gets.

I just got a "breaking news" e-mail from a local station that says he said that he misspoke about his milatary service.
"Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal says he misspoke about his military service on a few occasions, but that he regrets it and takes full responsibility."

Based on the press conference he just held, I think Dick is not only back, but there will be a backlash against Linda McMahon for trying to orchestrate this coup.
The veterans surrounding Dick should have been her constituency, but they have now come out very visibly in support of Blumenthal.
What a roller coaster...and we haven't even had the conventions yet! We are definitely in for a thrill ride this election.

Just found this
http://dailycaller.com/2010/05/18/mcmahon-campaign-says-they-fed-blumenthal-story-to-new-york-times
Not sure who is dumber but it does bring Mcmahon down and makes her look more of a conniving politician. Mcmahon's campaign admits they fed the story to the Times but then after hearing how it could come back and bite her in the a$$ they begins to back peddle. She really is stupid if she thought admitting she sent the story in made her look anything other than desperate and pathetic.

When something like this plays out this way, I smell a rat.
I find the timing most odd (the week of the convention, putting the Dems in absolute chaos if Blumenthal were to drop out). Who benefits from that?
The NY Times blog unnecessarily harsh and judgmental, very much out of the norm.
This is exactly what a desperate candidate who is substantially down in the polls would do to try to change the tide. Stir up some dirt and hope it sticks.
Linda is the one with the money to do the digging. I could be wrong. But I've been to this rodeo before.

Linda's charming husband. Richard Blumenthal should put these photos in his next campaign video.
Some others pictures that are just to vulgar to post. This woman is "the conservative family values" candidate.

Those pix are funny!
In the next to last one, at first glance the photographer's arm looks like a piece of Mr. McMahon's anatomy... I think this is what they would show you in Clockwork Orange under Ludovico's treatment.

Her husband having his butt kissed. Literally! These people who watch wrestling who thinks it is all real are the one's in CT who are voting for her.Linda has 50 million dollars she is spending to get elected. Anyone who has 50 million they can waste without even noticing it just shows how out of touch they are with reality.
There is a video of her out there I keep hearing that is very bad, especially if she is running for office. Maybe it is being saved for closer to election time, but I'm sure her campaign is aware of it and has a plan on dealing with it when it eventually surfaces.

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's long-awaited effort to win a Senate seat took a major hit when it was reported on Monday night that he misled the public by claiming to have served in the Vietnam War. But, in an unexpected gift of sorts, his Republican rival who played a role in pushing the story may end up helping him survive the scandal.
Shortly after the New York Times published its hard-hitting expose on Blumenthal's propensity to falsely paint himself as a combat veteran, conservative candidate Linda McMahon took credit for the hit. The article, the McMahon campaign said in an email promoting the story, had come at "the end of more than 2 months of deep, persistent research" by the campaign, and was a vindication of the "$16 million... crack opposition research operation" that the wrestling maven had built.
It was one of the first times in recent political memory that a candidate so publicly revealed and endorsed its opposition research.
It turns out, there's a reason why campaigns usually peddle dirt in private and without fingerprints. On Tuesday morning, the big story remained Blumenthal's bizarre rendering of his own history. But it was accompanied in key places by critical coverage of McMahon's antics.
Brian Lockhart, at the Connecticut Post, asked: "Who's worse: A candidate who fudges military service or one who gloats about the story?"
"McMahon's like a private detective who hands Connecticut an incriminating file on the state's husband of over 20 years and then asks: 'Sooooo, Connecticut. Now that I've told you the truth about Dick and you're falling out of love, are you busy Friday night?'" he added. "Connecticut voters must feel so blessed these are two of their leading candidates

This wouldn't even be a question if the parties were reversed. He is the one at fault. She's dirty, too, but he shouldn't have misrepresented himself.

I guess there is PLENTY of dirt on Linda and her family. Question is, will anyone use it. Found a great discussion on her,of all places, Ron Paul's forums.
This will give you a clear idea of who and what she is

Blumenthal should have gotten the memo during the 2004 race that even when you serve honorably in the armed forces, the opposition will find ways to knock you off. So why try to lie/brag about it?
I do not think you need much to show how dirty and unethical Vince McMahon is.

I find the Vince McMahon shots kind of hot but not in a human centipede kinda way, only consensually.
