So does anyone think there is something weird about a man who has a proven attraction to tranvestites repeatedly dressing up like a really unnattractive woman? No, me neither.

"Surely some humanitarian organization will recognize the selflessness with which Murphy has taken three of the movie's major roles, thus saving two other actors from a nasty black mark on their résumés." - L.A. Times

Hahahaha.

Yeah. You couldn't pay me enough money to see this trash.

I hope it loses him the Oscar and paves the way for Arkin or Haley.

There is absolutely nothing about this movie that makes me want to see it.

I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

I think it looks funny to me too--the set-up seems old fashioned to me--hapless schmo tries to escape (literally) smothering woman...if you think about it, it has its roots in VERY old comedy.

I think Eddie's very talented and if he wins, it'll be a shame it's for DREAMGIRLS and not for something like THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, which showcases his unique abilities.

Isn't Norbit dutch for "flop" ?

He deserves to lose the Oscar just for having such bad judgment. Who's managing his career; the Olsen Twins?

Well, I actually saw it today and...

I think my mind has been ****ed. I haven't been rendered speechless by a movie like this in years. I'm not sure if it was good or bad at all. It's like a force of nature...

#1 at the B.O. this weekend with a strong $33 million...higher than The Nutty Professor's opening B.O.

It's terrible that the majority of the biggest moneymakers (in 06) were cringingly awful whereas phenomenal films like Half Nelson didn't even crack $3 million. So far, 07 looks like it will be no exception to the "crappy movies are the biggest hits" rule. #1 (so far) is Stomp the Yard.

Funny, but I wonder if the huge box office success of Norbit might actually HELP Murphy with Oscar voters. Yes, the movie crappy (and if it had flopped, it probably would have hurt him with the voters), but Hollywood folks love a winner and the fact that Murphy can still deliver $33 million opening weekend reinforces his status as one of the biggest box office draws in the business. Not to mention, coming out with a film demonstrating his broad character abilities, only makes his more understated and dramatic work in Dreamgirls look all the more commendable.

All the critics tore it apart in their reviews. Roger Ebert only gave it one star and that was for the makeup crew that made Eddie Murphy into a fat, loud, woman. I just looks so terrible.

I still can't believe it beat Hannibal Rising at the box office. Hannibal was a way better film than Norbit, it's what you should see instead of Norbit.

Even though this is a bad movie, it is bad in a way that no movie has been bad before. It strikes originality in its awfulness. I would not recommend paying money to see this, but I would not discourage you from watching it. It is so wrong-headed and awful in every single aspect of its making that its almost as if this was a movie made for aliens.
