NY Blizzard

Hi all,

Anyone else affected by the winter weather this weekend? Any plans or indoor activities? I am so afraid of getting cabin fever, any ideas to keep me sane is appreciated!

Seeing is believing. Doesn't it seem like every time a huge snowstorm is predicted it somehow fails to surface?

re: NY Blizzard

You should still go to that show. Unless they are tickets to Q, THEN I WILL BUY THEM FROM YOU.
I need tickets for tomorrow. My best friend in the world still has not seen it.

re: NY Blizzard

I wish I could but the way it looks, by the time I get out of the show, it will be VERY snowy and coming down hard - the bus back home might not be running on time or there might be detours...not in the mood to stand in the freezing cold when I already have a cold in my system - I'll just do the "postdating" thing :/

re: NY Blizzard

Newbie question from someone far far away - What happens re the theatre when there is 12"+ of snow? I take it this is one of those "The Show Must Go On" situations, but what if you have actors who can't get to the theatre? If I were a cast member of a show, I might just bring a sleeping bag and camp at the theatre in case I couldn't get home/get back. LOL, I'm such a Winter Wimp, though; this is probably No Big Deal to a lot of people.

Corine, if you do get into Q, I hope you'll post a report. :)

re: NY Blizzard

I have tickets to Fiddler on Sunday, but the trains should run in the snow, and it should be simple as long as we can get to Grand Central re: NY Blizzard I'm more worried about how I can get my friend here, and how I'll get to a store tat sells character shoes, as I have rehersal at 10 tomorrow...

re: NY Blizzard

therise/newbie-you are almost exactly right -yes,the show must go on,and sometimes in extreme cases actors(stagehands, etc)will stay with friends,in hotels,or sometimes even in the theatre to be sure of making the show.

re: NY Blizzard

I'm going to rush Wicked tomorrow, hopefully the snow will keep people away and there won't be millions of people at the lottery. And I have tickets to the Knicks game on Sunday afternoon, so there's a couple indoor fun activities.

re: NY Blizzard

Current temperature in Williamsburg, Brooklyn -- 5 ..... not counting wind chill.

I just got home after seeing a play (and then meeting friends for drinks) and it was so cold that my nostrils ached (even covered in a scarf) and my fingers were numb (even with gloves) after walking all of one avenue block to the subway.

I picked up a bunch of comfort food on the way home -- something about a subzero blizzard just makes me crave fried chicken and mashed potatoes -- I think my girlish figure can stand it, but if not, I plan on extra crunches at the gym Monday.

I'm in for the long haul and shan't venture outside again until the temperature at least reaches double-digits.

Good luck to all.

re: NY Blizzard

If you don't want it to snow, pray that it stays cold. The colder it is, the less likely you are to get snow.

It's a balmy 6 degrees of separation in Manhattan. (We're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave).

re: NY Blizzard

NY1 just predicted at least a foot of snow tomorrow -- I'm sure it will look lovely outside my window tomorrow ....... I'm not setting foot outside my apartment, however, under any circumstances.
