Iris -- you're killing me.

It's still snowing in Chicago (stupid lake effect snow) and the paths that I shoveled around noon are almost all covered again. I hope one of my neighbors in the building gets out there soon to pick up the slack.

On the plus side -- my dog is loving it! Jumps around like a rabbit, sticks her entire head in the snow, etc. If only I could get a tiny shovel in her paws...

How does the Oriental Theater look ? I was in it a few imes when it was still a movie theater. What is the fate of the Uptown theater?

Mr. Roxy -- The Oriental Theater looks beautiful. I saw "Hairspray" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie" there in the past year and it really looks great. It's much better than the horrible, awful, I-don't-think-there's-a-good-comfortable-seat-in-the-place Shubert Theater.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know the fate of the Uptown Theater. There was some buzz a while back about someone buying it and trying to revamp it, but I believe that it fell through. Sad -- it's a beautiful building.

Well, I just got back from the grocery store, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the temperature didn't feel nearly as cold as I'd imagined that it would. The snow is pretty dense, and it's accumulating in the streets, and my leather shoes are probably forever going to bear the scars of this fateful trip, but I really didn't think that it was that cold out. I'm speaking for Manhattan, BTW.

Also in "white out" in the Philly/S.Jersey area, which is probably the only reason I am online on a Sat. eve.!

We are in for the the night with lots of food, music and family...for movies, cards ang games. Should be interesting to see how the Eagels game plays out in Philly tommorrow. Go Eagles!

Thank God, this didn't happen last Sat. for our Oldies show! We would have had 1,000 unhappy ticket holders.

Buffalo is getting pounded and it's not gonna stop until tomorrow morning...

Anyone have a spare dogsled.

I'm supposed to take a crockpot of chili to church tomorrow for a potluck after meetings...I don't even want to think about lugging it to the car and then into the Church when the snow is higher than my boots.

Does anyone feel my pain? :o)

PB -- I actually saw on the Weather Channel earlier the crews plowing the tarp that covers the field in the stadium in Philly in preparation for the game tomorrow. They were hauling off the snow in large dumpsters. The commentator made the comment that is someone was sitting in the upper deck at that point, they wouldn't be able to see the field.

Should make for an interesting game.

haha yesterday i didn't wait long enough to let my car heat up... i left and my windows got all messed, so i used the wiperfluid, but it completely froze over, so i had to pull over and chop it off... luckily i wasnt late... i don't think we should be allowed out in these temperatures!

Thanks. The Oriental opened in the 20's . It was designed by a firm called Rapp & Rapp. It had many light fixtures & chairs that regretfully have been lost over the years. It used to have a pipe organ as did all theaters of the period.

The Uptown is a 4,000 seat neighborhood theater designed by same firm . It had an eye poping lobby as I was in it a few times
