Nail Biting...do you?

I am proud to say that I stopped biting my nails a week ago today. It's been extremely difficult (even though today I cheated and part of my thumb nail 'broke off'). I find myself CONSTANTLY picking underneath my nails (trying to make the white show up quicker). I started my nail biting as a young boy, who never knew it was not attractive...I was so young, so naive...my nails have not been this long in over 8 years. Go me. Do you bite your nails? Share your story with me.

OT, but anyway...

I've tried everything. I've been biting my nails since I was a little kid. I've had success with stopping a few times, but I always start up again. Last summer, I stopped for about four months, but when school started again and I had things to be stressed about, I started again.

I still bite them. Terrible habit, but I'm getting tips so I stop biting them.

i stopped for years but for a while this year i started up again. Luckilly i got myself to stop one last time.

I am sooo bad with nail biting. I've tried everything to give it up. If anyone found a way that works, otherthan walking around with over mitts taped to my hands, let me know.

There is this really bitter nail polish called No Bite or something. It is the nasty stuff on earth and you will stop biting your nails. I started biting them again a few months ago when my grandmother died, but I stopped recently

I have a terrible nail-biting habit.

Some people have suggested putting bitter apple stuff on my nails so that when I bite, I'm trained not to because of the taste.

No way. I love clipping my fingernails. i end up doing it like every other day cuz the all grow at different speeds.

aparently someone in my dorm likes doing it, cuz fingernails randomly show on our living room table (with no fingers attached). gross.

Psh, all of this stuff you people are reccomending for putting on your nails, I'd wash the stuff off and start biting them again. I've recently tried giving a lot of stuff up. Unhealthy foods (I have not consumed more than probably 1300 calories per day in the last week), every drink but water and nail biting.

Hehe...I used to sooo bad..and lately I've been really really good..but if they get really long *like this week I noticed they were* and I get bored..I can't help myself..and then I'm like ewww this is gross and move on to the next nail..:)

Not really in the sense that I hack them off with my teeth but I'll kind of worry at my thumbnail when I'm nervous or thinking really hard. :-P Nothing compared to someone I know who has bloody cuticles and fingers every day because she bites them. I used to do it alot but I bought some foul tasting nail polish to stop myself.

I bit my nails until I was in my early 20's. Long story, but I went through a stage where my nails were very soft (meds) and so I couldn't bite them. So I got out of the habit. Now they're back to normal, and I don't bite them anymore.

I've never understood why people bite their nails...it looks so icky...

Then again, I sucked my thumb until I was about 7, and now have icky braces. (that I get off in 6 months! woo!)

well,i didnt know where els to turn,i was stuck.i lived to bit my nails evry day.i still do but not obseivly.i am proud to saie that i have NEVER bitten my tow nails.

I can't relate to nail-biting, as I've never done it. But, I would imagine that keeping your nails clipped, would prevent the return of the habit. I clip my nails all the time. I hate long fingernails.

My ex was OBSESSED with clipping and filing his nails. He carries an emory board with him everywhere. The upside was that when he couldn't find anything else to do with his own nails he did mine. That boy could give one helluva manicure and pedicure. I saved a ton of money and always looked good in flip flops!
