I just wanted to ask opinions on seeing this show. Is the singing and songs worth it, or is the real reason this has played so long due to the shock value of nudity. I've been to NYC many times and none of my friends who live there have seen it. It made me wonder if it is any good. Let me know your thoughts. If the actors are really talented I'd love to go.
"shock" value.
There are better shows to see.

I have no idea what this show is about but the title sounds like fun.

It's totally about the shock value.
It is entertaining, though- particularly to see all of the reactions in the audience. Though front row people are kinda scary, at least the time that I went.
The cast is marginally talented-the songs aren't great and what little choreography there is - well, never mind. And the shock value wears off in a few minutes. the show's only an hour long, though.
the audiences consist mainly of large groups of bachelorettes having a party and they're drunk. Then there are some gay guys and finally, an occasional straight couple. Oh, and for some reason, lots of Asian young girls.
I'm at a loss as to why the show has been running so long. they never even sell out.
I wouldn't bother if I were you. Oh-and full price tickets are either $59 or $69.
Well, they ARE naked, so what do YOU think?
Nevertheless, a long list of talented actors has appeared in the show. At any given time, you might see one who will be become very big later on.
Who has been famous from this and moved on to bigger and better things? Does anyone know names?
I'm also curious to know who these actors are.

Was that sentence intended to be as funny as it is?
I just got that as well. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm sure the audience members often get bigger as well. So everyone makes out.

You beat me to it. But since it was PJ, i bet it was rather intentionally funny.
i must say i'm a fan of this show, although it's been several years since i've seen it. one of the great OB musicals? no. BUT the songs are tuneful, with hilarious and sometimes poignant lyrics. if you catch a cast with several buff boys, that's just icing on the cake. i recommend it.
Thank you, Zoneace. I didn't think I was being SUBTLE.

I have a ticket for August!
Thanks for the interview link, Dollyop! Why was the show banned in Provincetown?

because it was naked boys, singing.
I actually went out on a few dates with a guy in this show in Los Angeles. He was a great guy, but it was days before I met my (future) partner. And the rest, as they say, is history.
After that, I couldn't bring myself to go see the show.
I did not save the program from this show but I do remember the "Perky Little Porn Star from Skokie, IL" being very adorable.

As I recall, the show was banned in P-Town because of regulations about nude shows playing in venues where alcohol is served.

"Perky Little Porn Star" is adorable when George Livengood performs is. So is "The Bliss of a Bris". I don't know if George is still in the NY production.
