When I first heard they were making a sequel to the RENT movie I was surprised because I thought the first one didn't do to good at the box office but they make sequels to everything so why not LOL?
So, I wasn't sure originally I would go to see Rent 2: Filmed Live on Broadway because I had heard that the cast from the first movie only had really small parts except Joanne don't get me wrong I loved Joanne from the first movie but I just wasn't sure there was anywheres to go with the story because it was so perfect as it was LOL.
So I wasn't sure but then I found out the new Roger was Will Chase who I saw in the musical High Fidelity and there was a scene with his shirt off in it and also in his boxer shorts and he was awesome. I stood by the stage door to meet him and he was very down to earth.
My friend who never saw RENT1 came with me and he was wondering if he was going to understand RENT2 without having seen it and I said "probably" plus he is overweight so I knew he would at least enjoy the popcorn and butter flavoring and salt LOL.
So we went and I took a picture of the sign that said something like RENT Was On Broadway For a Long Time and There Was 1 Movie and Now There is 1 Special Night or something like that.
I took a picture of it but it came out crooked and you should squint to see the logo but not the part about 1 Special Night, sorry, LOL.
So RENT2: FLOB was pretty good. It is a lot more like the stage show than the first movie was and tells a similar story but with younger people. Although the music in the movie, and this was a good touch not in the first movie, is played by people you can see and doesn't just come out of space somewhere. Anyway, they hired really old people to play the instruments which is a very positive message like that one movie Young@Hearts and the other message of No Day But Today.
There were some things I loved about the movie like the songs, which are very good, and there is more sex (under a bedsheet that turns into like a cape for a character who dies I won't say who as that would be a SPOILER at least I think he dies he just leaves and later comes back to life with a baseball shirt with the earth on it) than in the first movie which is good. One of the things I hated was that Will Chase stayed in his clothes the whole time which is just stupid cuz he has an awesome body and great pecs, LOL
I didn't like Eden Espinosa at all. I don't hardly know who she was playing compared to the many Maureens I saw on stage in the original RENT (which is what RENT1 is mostly based on) over the years but she was what my friend in a casting agency called "Just another Tesley Girl" which I don't even know what that means but it sounds right LOL.
My favorite favorite part was you won't believe it! It had an INTERMISSION!!!
I took a picture of the intermission because it was so cool and some guy from the theater yelled at me but I pretended I don't speak English LOL.
Here it is:
There is movement and everything and it's not a picture. It is very similar to seeing the original RENT in the theater! You can even go to the bathroom if you have to LOL.
So in conclusion RENT 2: Filmed Live on Broadway is very good and you should see it but it is expensive (20 dollars). Also, they made you fill out a form about if you liked it or not and it said what websites told you about this movie and it doesn't offer Broadwayworld which is discrimination. So I wrote Broadwayworld all over it.
Also, the theater was not full and the actors cried a lot and people in the audience did too and I heard a guy say he was glad he saw Mario in A Chorus Line and another guy said Wicked is his favorite.

PS I hit rotate on the photos and do not know why they are still crooked. Please tilt your head sorry LOL
