Realistically, you'll be able to find a place opening Oct 1, so the problem is finding a place for one week.

Will you be getting rid of any large pieces of furniture, or are you planning on keeping everything? Does the price of storage increase per extra square foot/yard? I would say put the furniture into storage, and divvie up boxes of clothing, kitchenware and smaller possessions between your friends to keep for a while.

If you need space for boxes, I'm sure some of us can pitch in and store some stuff. It's only for a couple of weeks. I live in Brooklyn but I have a car, let me know.
