The Entertainment Industrial Complex has flattened out our culture for so long it's hard to worked up about *this* particular cash grab. They'll probably put an action scene in each movie that will make a super fun ride in Orlando.

Clearly Warner Bros. does not want Marvel Cinematic Universe to become the highest-grossing film series ever.

Harry Potter spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’ will be ‘at least’ a trilogy

Three films from that slight little book she wrote for charity? The only thing that gives me hope is that she is writing the screenplays.

Well its not based off the books per se, its based on the fictional author who wrote those books.

Since Yates has singed on and Rowling is writing the screenplay (with Kloves) I remain optimistic and excited. Think the cast looks great and fits perfectly into the world of 1920's NYC, since the magic community always had that feeling to begin with.

Eccentric magizoologist Newt Scamander (Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne) comes to New York (for a reason we won’t disclose) with his trusty weathered case. This case is one of those way-way-way-bigger-on-the-inside magical devices, and within are expansive habitats for a collection of rare and endangered magical creatures from Newt’s travels around globe. He discovers the American wizarding community is fearfully hiding from Muggles (who are called “No-Maj” in the States, more on that here) and the threat of public exposure is an even graver concern than in the UK (remember the Salem witch trials?). Fantastic Beasts is the story of what happens when this uniquely skilled English wizard travels to wiz-phobic America and a variety of his creatures, some quite dangerous … get out of their case.

I like the fact that the American wizarding community is more wary of Muggles in the 1920s. I wonder if we'll see the NY equivalent to places like Diagon Alley.

From an article released by EW today talking with Stuart Craig, we get a glimpse of the American equivalent of The Ministry of Magic, called The Magical Congress of The United States of America (MACUSA).

The Magical Congress of the United States of America is hidden from Muggle view inside the very real Woolworth Building (New York’s tallest structure in 1926). Wizards enter through an ultra-fast-spinning revolving door into a grand lobby. While this Fantastic Beasts stage is a rather massive 250 feet long and 50 feet high, the ceiling will be extended with special effects to reach nearly 700 feet to represent “an empty cathedral of light, a hugely impressive, brilliantly lit space,” says production designer Stuart Craig.

Other reveals inside the article.

T

Teaser Trailer Indeed!

I think that this was just enough to give the fans a taste of what the world will look like. Seems to be that this film will be an introduction to the American Wizarding World, with the added fun of a heist/caper film. The good thing is that from everything we have seen so for, albeit not much, it seems to be blending in with the tone of the Original series.

I'm sold. I admit that I was not confident back when this was first announced, but everything I've seen and heard so far has me ready to go with no hesitation.
