1) Tim Burton
2) A supposedly darker remake of a story that became famous in a kiddied up movie
3) Johnny Depp & Freddie Highmore
4) Danny Elfman (score)

New Depp Wonka Film - Teaser Poster Revealed!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but I do not like the make-up nor the hat, and I especially HATE the hair!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

sometimes these early teasers actually seem to have nothing to do with the eventual film - I say wait a while and see what the film itsel looks like before vetoeing it...

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Not really vetoing it. Just really think that hair is wrong for the character. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

It will be interesting to see a more faithful adaptation of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY -- not that I don't like WILLY WONKA.

That being said: the concept of Wonka on the poster reminds me of the ChildCatcher in CHITTY.

I like the poster a lot, actually. Granted I haven't read the book since I was a kid so I'm not sure how the image lines up to the character description.

But as an image I think its great.

I'm a big fan of the original book AND the movie, and I adore Johnny, so I guess i'll just have to wait and see. But yea, that poster is not promising...blah.

Burton's done plenty of good work post-Beetlejuice.

Planet of the Apes notwithstanding, of course.

Sleepy Hollow isn't very good either.

edward scissorhands and both the burton batmans came after beetle juice as did the aforementioned ed wood (which i didn't much care for other than seeing martin landau shouting maniacally, "pull de string!") and big fish (which while not a great film was one that i enjoyed). as bad as the apeman hop movie was, though it did feature helena bonham carter, the homewrecking wh*re and all aroound too hot to be believed damsel, as the purdiest monkey girl i ever did see.

I liked 'Sleepy Hollow' but I'm all about Hammer horror movies so I knew what he was going for with a lot of it.

I thought this was going to be a dark adaptation? Why so much colour?

Sleepy Hollow was actually much more enjoyable watching it a second time recently. I adore Burton's films--even his bad ones make me happy. Mars Attacks is another!

I LOVE the poster.

"I thought this was going to be a dark adaptation? Why so much colour?"
Do you think that Burton's way of making a dark film is to remove color? Geez, I had friends in middle school who understood the mental physce better. What you have hear touted as a dark movie, would perhaps be better described as creepy, off-putting, and so forth. You're reading dark a bit to literal.

He looks like a 1920's prohibition girl with that haircut and dress.... i mean jacket. Maybe he does a Charleston dance before he drowns them in the chocolate river?
