re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Honestly, I found Amy to be very Kristin Chenoweth - I don't know why everyone hates her so much when Chenoweth is so damn popular (no pun intended).

Of course Maureen was great - she rules. RULES. How was Sutton's understudy?

The understudy was fine. Not jaw dropping or anything. Just fine. And I am not even touching the Chenoweth analogy there re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!. I will say that Maureen and her 2 songs were the high points.

Addy, we could meet at headquarters and decide from there.....

Just doing another shameless self bump as I am in the Easy Everything on 42nd Street, about to go see Steel Magnolias. Can you believe I haven't seen the movie?

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

If anyone cares (and apparently nobody does, SOB!) I loved Steel Magnolias. Some of the performances aren't quite there yet, but considering how early it is in previews, by opening night it will be in very fine shape. I would not want to be on the Tony committee when it comes to narrowing down the Best Actress in a Play category........

(and I hated missing you tonight.)

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Well I think missing me tonight was for the best. I had to walk all of 4 blocks from the Lyceum to the subway and I wanted to kill so many drunken people in large Guiness hats it simply wasn't true.......So we will see each other again soon enough and it will be awesome and fun. It's too bad Tuesday didn't work out properly.

I know. Tuesday would have been perfect.

Best to avoid midtown on St. Patty's Day! I escaped to a Mexican restaurant on the East Side for the dinner. It was a party, but not insane...

Soon. We will soon!

We can always do something Tuesday after our respective shows, I guess..........

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Hurrah! Now it's time I wasn't here. I have a movie to see and a Serendipity date BEFORE I see a show tomorrow. Crazy.

Did I hear someone say Barrage? *perks*
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Poppy--have you seen Dessa Rose yet? I want you to see it before going back to England.

We are going to the Met tonight to see Der Rosenkavelier with Susan Graham and Laura Aikin. My first Rosenkavelier!

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Rosenkavalier would be the first German opera I would want to experience. Or Salome...
#573

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

We saw Salome last year with Karita Mattila (so did Addy, I believe). Karita Mattila's singing and acting were equally stunning. She played Salome as an oversexed teenage girl--and during the dance of the seven veils she got NEKKID!

I can't imagine any other opera diva I would want to see with no clothes.

re: new york welcomes popcultureboy!

Natalie Dessay. I would take her au naturel ANY day!
