Maybe I'm sympathetic because she's the only person apart from myself who I've heard admit to liking "The Pirate."

Well, I suspect you mostly watch "The Pirate" for Gene Kelly's legs.

Hmmm, yes...I admit to that as well.

I also watch "An American in Paris" for Gene Kelly's...umm yeah, I just loooove the Chocolat segment of "The American Paris Ballet".

I love The Pirate too. I think I even started a thread on it once.

It gets a lot of shade and was a big flop when it opened but I love its unabashed eagerness to please with a song and dance.
