I have a tendency to get a little peeved when people focus on the negative around here - such as, this thread would normally be about who ISN'T nice. So, here's an opportunity to share the positive, and I've just kind of given it a short shrift.
So, in the interest of sharing the positive, these are some performers who have truly given me some delightful experiences - either as friends, acquaintences, or just 'star to fan' delight - and there's a couple of musicians thrown in, so sue me:
Beverly Sills
Lorna Luft
Van Cliburn
Ian McKellen
Bill Irwin
Julie Andrews
Cher
John Denver
Lily Tomlin
Brian Stokes Mitchell
Bernadette Peters

Hands down, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Sweet, engaging, inquisitive, polite...and just about a million other good things rolled together.

Jeff Goldblum certainly is very nice, and quite the flirt.
I've been lucky enough to have wonderful encounters with pretty much everyone except Nathan Lane, but I think David Hyde Pierce is singularly the nicest person EVER

Chevstriss- I was actually a little intimidated to approach Tom Wopat after "A Catered Affair" because I heard some stories about him also. My mother wanted to wait for him to get a pic- my brother was a big "Dukes of Hazzard" fan back in the day. Maybe he was nice because my mother was gushing over him....who knows?

Sharon Wilkins was wonderful and gracious both times I met her. Does anyone know what she is doing now?

Rosemary Harris = Class Act
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Through a mutual friend I was lucky enough to have dinner with Charles Busch, who was extremely friendly and gracious. Very classy act.
I met Lynne Thigpen once on the street. I told her how much I'd admired her performance in AN AMERICAN DAUGHTER, and she just lit up. She was very warm and friendly, I'll never forget that.

Borstal - I think there must be magic in the name Harris, cause Julie is pretty spectacular herself!

I met Sara Ramirez on Valentine's day and honestly, she couldn't have been sweeter. Julia Murney was a doll when I met her last month.
My Tom Wopat story... When I was 20, my best friend, also 20, and I went to Nasvhille to see the show that Tom hosted on TNN. (A network that's no longer there. It's Spike now.) So, because we were the only people in the audience under 30, they moved us to the front row so we would appear on camera. As he was walking by, he noticed us, I guess. He came over and started to talking to my friend, who had a big crush. She asked for an autograph and he gave it. He included his phone number. (He was close to 50 then.) She called and they made plans. He said, "Bring your friend if you want." lol I didn't go. They only "went out" the one time. He never returned her calls after that. I have just always thought of him as a tool.

I have a list:
Valerie Fagan, Jared Bradshaw, Jennifer Simard and David Benoit of Forbidden Broadway.
The worst: Julie White.

and the smoothest, most gracious host with the most is the mysteriously exciting Marjoe. He actually BOWED over my hand when I offered it for a handshake. *swoons* so continental!
But he's more a Universally Beloved Mythic Counter-Culture Icon rather than a mere "actor".

Jerseygirl- That's a great Tom Wopat story. I actually had the feeling that he was "checking me out" when we met because he kept looking at me while my mother was talking. I never gave it a second thought until your story....

the guys from adam rapp's "finer noble gasses".
while they were all super nice and amazing, i felt like i really bonded with ray rizzo and michael chernus (i met them all at a party)
just wonderful, funny, down to earth people.
annie parisse ranks pretty high up there too.
and of course adam's an absolute sweetheart, but you said actor and he's not an actor.

Lily Tomlin. Hands down. We had a very nice little chat and she gave me a big hug afterwards. Joe Montegna and Anneliese van der Pol were also very nice but not quite as nice as Lily!
My father talked to Alan Rickman for about three seconds. He was...not mean but wasn't exactly a warm human being either hahaha. Lily Tomlin takes the cake for me.
