No indictment - Ferguson. — Page 2

I did a good deal of housekeeping of my facebook "friends" today based on posts I saw. It saddens me how many people I know use thinly veiled hate speech with phrases like "those people" or offer "advice" such as "they're just hurting themselves."

I think we can all agree that it is probably not a great idea to start punching a cop who is sitting in his car. That is especially true if you have just taken some stuff from a shop.

The NYT pointed out that Officer Wilson is 6' 4" as if it wasn't such a mismatch. But regardless of your height, when you are sitting in your car the person standing outside is over two feet taller than you and you are defenseless confined to your space.

But I wonder about two things. If the assailant was the same size as Mr. Brown, except white, would Officer Wilson's reaction have been the same. Many, certainly most blacks, will say no but I'm not so sure. Imagine for a moment being hit by someone that big and fighting over a gun in the same instant. I'm not convinced that the moment you are fighting for your life, skin color is much on you mind.

I also wonder how much being under the influence of pot contributed to Brown making that aggressive decision.

This tragedy should not have happened. Brown was not thinking straight when he went after Wilson. But in that moment, with your head pounding and your heart racing, I can't believe that Wilson was thinking straight at the moment he stepped from that car. Do you think that because he was holding a weapon that he was not terrified?

My assessment is that the prosecutor did not follow standard procedures in presenting evidence before a grand jury. It is the job of the prosecutor to represent the state and the victim. The court and laws protect the respondent during a grand jury proceeding. Robert McCullough and his minions acted as defense counsel and not as prosecuters which is an abdication of their duties and unfair to the victim and his family! SHAME!!!!

I also wonder how much being under the influence of pot contributed to Brown making that aggressive decision.
