Not my favorite Ave Maria, by a long shot. It was just alright for me, dawg.
Ave Maria
Is it me. Or did she have some minor pitch issues in the beginning? She got better as it went on

tazber, you must have been talking on the telephone when he was preaching about love.
Not sure there were any pitch problems, but the pacing was strange. But then, the entire arrangement was strange. She did a fine job with it, such as it was. It's not going to make me forget Mario Lanza's version, or my wife's, who sings it better than anyone.
I listened again. If she had any pitch issue, it was very minor. But I agree. The whole thing was kind of strange.
I'll start believing in religion, especially Catholicism, when it recognizes the right for a man to love another man.
What does that have to do with Kelly Clarkson singing? Who wants you to recognize religion?

nope, no love whatsoever.
To quote you, JohnBoy2, "tazber, you must have been talking on the telephone when he was preaching about love."
You brought it up.
I was kidding. And bastardizing a quote from Female Trouble! And even if I weren't, I still wasn't asking anyone to accept any religion.

None. It was barely adequate.
Crap! The video's no longer available.
the video isn't working anymore but I was there and thought she did a beautiful job. Her show before the pope's arrival was even better.
I wonder if The Pope was secretly hoping she'd sing 'Behind These Hazel Eyes.'

Who's idea was this? It didn't work out very well.
Thanks, Liam.
Well Kathleen Battle she ain't. Kelly has a rock voice, and considering that, it sounded ok. However, I think a song such as Ave Maria is better sung by a softer and sweeter voice.
I agree with DG, not the best idea.
she shoulda gone with the original plan and done a duet of "we're not the jet set" with toby keith.
although that one card with the shades seemed to be really enjoying it.

10 kids (and chaperone's) from my Parish went to this yesterday..... the kids could not stop talking this morning about how amazing it was to be that close to the Pope.
And each one of them also remarked that everyone went crazier for the Pope than they did for Kelly Clarkson.
I knew that she did the Ave Maria, but one of the parents couldn't remember what her first song was. The only thing she could say was that it was completely inappropriate.

Harry Connick, JR played far more appropriate music at today's mass.
She needed more riffing.
