Limbaugh Detained At Airport For Drugs
Limbaugh Has Not Been Charged In This Case Yet
He Could Face A Misdemeanor Charge
Carey Codd Reporting
(CBS4 News) WEST PALM BEACH Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was detained at Palm Beach International Airport for the possible possession of illegal prescription drugs Monday evening.
Limbaugh was returning on a flight from the Dominican Republic when customs officials found a Viagra prescription that did not bear his name. Instead, the bottle of pills had the names of two doctors on it according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents examined the 55-year-old’s luggage after his private plane landed at the airport from the Dominican Republic. The matter was then turned over to the Sheriff’s Office. Investigators seized the drugs - used to treat erectile dysfunction - from Limbaugh.
Limbaugh was detained for about three hours and was let go after cooperating with officials. He could be facing a second-degree misdemeanor violation if the State Attorney’s office presses charges.
Limbaugh entered a plea deal back in April in a previous case where his charge of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions was dropped under the condition he continue undergoing treatment for addiction.
Limbaugh had admitted to being addicted to pain killers on his radio program and had entered a rehabilitation program prior to that arrest.
Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued the following statement:
"While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey."

Personal attacks are equally tiresome when veiled. Tiresome and offputting to other posters. Just. Stop. Doing. It.

ya know what's tiring? what's tiring is your complete inability to take responsibility for anything at all. and i don't really care if it's tiring to anyone else because it's tiring to me. so cry some more. pretend you're a victim. try to drum up sympathy that mean ol' papalovesmambo's beating up on ya again.
i mean i understand it, because your predictions are so very, very often proven utterly wrong. hey, if had that horrible a track record at prognostication, i'd lay the blame on other people too. so go back to cutting and pasting and crying, "rob, craig, he's being mean to me." ya reap what ya sow there, smiley.

I certainly don't. I haven't in months and months. Our mutual friends certainly don't.
Or do you think they call each other on their cellphones and text-message each other and say, "Oh-ho-ho! PapaLovesMambo REALLY skewered PalJoey today! Wow-EE!"
They don't. NO ONE READS YOUR SCREEDS AGAINST ME. No one cares. It's just cluttering up BroadwayWorld bandwidth.
Next time you see one of my comments on a political thread, try addressing the issue, not me personally. When you have that impulse to to off on me in a post the NO ONE WILL READ, do as that Dead Republican's wife used to tell us: "Just say never mind."
Posted: 6/27/06 at 8:49am
And to be honest again, the first thing I thought when I read your "Here you go again" line was, "Actually, it was 'There you go again.'" Not a big distinction, certainly, but since Reagan repeated it frequently enough for it to become a tagline it did stick out and I was going to write a gentle correction before papa did.
It's kind of like saying Steve Martin was "a wild plus crazy guy."

or no, like nancy said.
the difference between you and me joey is i don't care who reads it. i'm not concerned about my "reputation" on the board.
*edit...oh, and i think someone cares. i think they care very deeply about what i say, how i say it and when i say it. if they didn't read what i said or care, they wouldn't cry so loudly everytime i say something.

Limbaughs attorney is Roy Black. Back when Roy Black was defending one of the Kennedy's for rape Limbaugh went on the record & said,"If Roy Black is defending you, then you MUST be guilty".Ironic how the tide has turned. I'm curious if Roy brought this up to Rush before taking his case.
Whats odd about this is Rush's arrogance & stupidity. It was a private plane & Limbaugh didn't think he would be searched (my local news reported this story & talked to someone at the airport who said Limbaugh told authorities that he didn't think because it was a private plane that he would be searched)Now, I'm sure this is probably nothing signifigant to the case, but still thought it was worth mentioning. It gives you a glimpse of his mindset.
Second, due to past problems with this why would he be dumb enough to have someone else's name on a prescription medication? I mean, c'mon! The reason Roy Black gave was for privacy.Thats total Bull****! There are celebrities out there who take more contraversial medications other than viagra that could be embarassing if exposed.Clinical Depression, concentration, ADA, herpes, genital herpes,HIV,etc. Why would customs make a big deal over Rush Limbaugh taking viagra? Who cares? Yeah, he's not married & preaches about Republican values & morales, but lets face it. Rush is a hypocrite. I guess due to pass experience I thought he'd be EXTRA careful & try NOT to give his critics ANY kind of ammunition. This is a case of Rush Limbaugh's arrogance & nothing more. I wish it were something more serious, but its just Rush thinking he's better than anyone else.
I predict on his show that he will spin this to his listeners as him being the victim. How the airport officials were all liberals. How they were "out to get him". How the liberal media made stuff up & so on & so on.
Just think about this. If this exact same story happened to John Murtha. Or Al Gore. Or George Clooney. How would Rush report this story? Like I said, Rush on top of being a liar is a classic example of hypocrisy.

The story says "Viagra bottles found" Bottles? How many 'bottles'does one need while vacationing in the Dominican Repulic? Doesn't this sound a bit odd? Could it be it wasn't the viagra that struck customs as being odd but the number of bottles of viagra?SOunds dangerous. Rush is known for taking things in LARGE quantities. Its a FCAT the man went deaf from abusing oxycontin. Doctors have said oxycontin can make you loose your hearing over time.
Well check this out.

Abusing viagra & taking too much can make you go blind. I think Rush is going for some kind of record. This man needs help!
I'm curious. The three other people Limabugh was traveling with. Were they all men? Just asking.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.
The matter was turned over to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh. "He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors," Miller said.
Sheriff's investigators confiscated the drugs, and Limbaugh was released around 5:30 p.m. without being charged.
However, the sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.
"We believe there may be a second degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said.
A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.
So, it's not like he used some "alias" or anything like that...it's another one of Rush's doctors...for that reason, no matter stupid it may seem, it actually does seem to me like he's telling the truth. How assinine, though. Who cares if you're taking Viagra?? He must have some serious issues with his sense of self-worth being tied up with "manliness" to be so worried about that. (IMHO)

The article says doctorS, not doctor. This suggests he's getting multiple, overlapping prescriptions again.
Now, I do not know how seriously regulated Viagra is as opposed to something like Oxycontin, but it's a technical breaking of the law if he's shopping around again.

I can also say, equally unequivocally, that I agree with these words, uttered by Rush Limbaugh on October 5, 1995:
"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."
