I for one am getting reeeeeeeally sick and tired of our Nobel Piece Prize winning President. This is what gets me more than anything else -
"Officials with the Obama administration have said they feel DOMA is discriminatory but say they have an obligation to defend laws enacted by Congress while they are on the books."
Wasn't Obama's ENTIRE platform about change?? How in the hell are we going to have change without, oh whats that word again, CHANGE?
I wish Sarah Palin were president. At least then I'd have Tina Fey on SNL to look forward to once a week.

I am guessing that you spelled "Peace" the way you did on purpose?
Honestly, I don't even know. I had just woken up when I wrote that so to be perfectly honest, I could have just been looking at the cake sitting on the counter and thinking I want a piece of it. No need to edit it, I stand by my choices. lol

If Sarah Palin were president she'd be telling you to eat cake.
Anyone encouraging me to eat cake is someone I want in my life. Be it Sarah Palin or Ike Turner.
In order for things like DOMA and DADT to be changed, an act of Congress is required. Temporary fixes like executive orders are just that, temporary. If DOMA and DADT were not being enforced, there would be no impetus for Congress to act. Without an act of Congress, any subsequent president can reverse any executive order.
At this point, Madbrian, Obama's repeated defenses of these policies make it unlikely that Congress will do anything to overturn them.
Leadership would be a clear statement that he WANTS the policies overturned.
What he's doing is giving cover to the Democrats who represent bigots, saying to them: "Don't worry. You don't have to support the homos. We gave them Hate Crimes. What do they want now? Civil F*CKin' rights? We're too busy with the economy and Afghanistan to pay attention to unimportant things like DOMA and DADT. The White House has got your backs, Straight Guys. Let the fags hold their breath and stamp their feet till they turn pink."
If Obama thinks the gay and lesbians will vote for him in 2012 he may be in for a shock. Then again, he may plan on overturning DADT in October 2012 just to be safe.I can only support him for so long.I am a second class citizen to him and his administration. He can deny it, give a great speech in front of the GLBT crowd all he wants. Actions speak louder than words. If we get a Republican candidate in 2012 who is pro gay marriage,I'll vote them. If not, I may just sit out 2012.

I'm all for gay marriage, but do you really think it is the SINGLE issue with voting for someone?
"...Obama's repeated defenses of these policies make it unlikely that Congress will do anything to overturn them."
I completely disagree, but we'll see.
Theatrefan4,Gay marriage is not the ONLY thing about a candidate I vote for,but it is VERY important with me. I was not a strong Obama supporter at first and I still would have rather seen Hilary get the nomination. Yes, both Obama and Hillary are against gay marriage but I felt either one of them as President would be better than a Republican. There are more and more Conservatives nowadays who are for gay marriage than there were 4 years ago. It's a very important subject to me and even though Obama was not for same sex marriage I thought he was more of a friend to the gay community.Despite what he claims, I do not think he is. I do not like being lied to and I felt Obama promised change and that meant a change in policy towards gays in the military. He could easily put an end to DADT but he has not as of yet.He keeps saying it has to be at the right time, which makes me ask is the right time when it's politically convenient for you? I think he said what he said to get elected and to get the GLBT community to support him. We did and Obama was a far better choice than McCain/Palin and I am glad I voted for Obama. I hope he does something positive for the gay community fast. My patience have been wearing thin for months now.
Well I am shocked...SHOCKED!
