"Currently companies such as UPS are eliminating spousal coverage to lower their costs."
That's only telling half the story. They're only dropping spousal coverage for spouses who get coverage of their own through their own employer. So nobody's being dropped from coverage here.
"Delta Airlines has said that the $67 fee of each employee will cost them 100M."
Yes, it does cost companies money to do what they should be doing. That's the cost of doing business that had been eaten away as corporations sucked more and more away from employees so they could buy an extra yacht or two. It's time things got back in line so we can have a middle class again. These corporations are doing better than they've ever done. they can afford it. They just don't want to.
"The Gap and many other companies are making all new employees 25 hours or less so they don't incur the costs of the ACA."
Dealing with this in my own company. So I know this is not true. The bill has built-ins that prevent this exact thing. This is what the bill is intended to move corporations away from in the first place. That's what companies were doing that caused this problem that necessitated this bill.
The bill includes regulations that make it impossible to run a business by dropping your employees to part time status. Anyone you employ at less than the number of hours required for health benefit eligibility must be a temporary worker. They can only work for three months before you have to let them go for at least three months before you can hire them again...three months on, three months off. So companies will not lower their employees hours since no one can feasibly rotate staff like that. And what employees will stay with a job like that?
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
