Something tells me if the situation were reversed, not many people on the board would wish Mc Cain well.

You're right, Roxy, I'd be praying every night that my investments continue to whither away, more troops get killed and that the U.S. continue to diminish in its global position.

I remember when W's father was elected, Republican mouthpieces (who were not quite as refined at their game as they are now) would go on and on about how he was everybody's president and the whole country had to get behind him. I remember thinking, oh yeah, I wonder how they'll behave when the next Democrat is elected?

Then Clinton was elected and they ATTACKED from the get-go. And I thought, nope, I won't be fooled again! I am not going to be a total sell-out and pay useless lip service like Roxy just did, to prove what a big man he is. Friggit. I could hope against hope that a 19th century moron like McCain won't do even more damage to the country than anti-intellectual W has done, but really, is that even POSSIBLE? Those same Republican mouthpieces who eviscerated Bill Clinton had the audacity to demand a honeymoon period for W!

And now we have Roxy "wishing Obama well." While trashing him everywhere and ignoring Republican culpability for the mess this country's in.

I could be reading some of these messages wrong, but from what I can see so far....

What is this mindset that our job is done on election day? As if Obama will single-handedly make everything work. Yes, he is an accomplished, inspiring, and perhaps brilliant man. But we need to factor in "WE" into any future success for the country.

Democracy is participatory 365 days a year!

Should Obama be elected.. and I hope he is... our DAILY job is to make our voices heard on the issues, hold Obama's feet to the fire about keeping a progressive agenda, and be ever mindful that he is there to represent us, not that we are here to follow him.

Fully expect him to shift, adjust and re-direct his plans and promises.

But DO NOT prepare yourself to sit back and whine away with the "they all do that" mentality.

That way of thinking simply abdicates any power you have and renders you useless and MORE dangerous than the "stupidity of Americans" or "evil of Republicans."

My two cents.

Agreed BFB.

When Obama wins, be prepared for him to govern from the middle.

He is not as liberal or as progressive as both feared and hoped, and will recognize that the only way we can get through the next four years, is as one country.

It will be quite surprising to some on the far right that the world will not end when he is elected.

There is a lot of hard work ahead of all Americans. And, I think Obama is smart enough to know that in order to overcome some pretty amazing obstacles, we have to be united and work together. Certain things may veer to the left, such as judicial appointments, the EPA, and the outlook of federal agencies, but I think that he will make a concerted effort to bring everyone into the discussion, and represent all of us - even those who did not vote for him.

If Roxy continues to disenfranchise himself by refusing to honor his duty to the flag, the constitution, God and Mrs Roxy by VOTING--which he refuses to do, presumably preferring a totalitarian system of government in which Roxies are not ALLOWED to vote (only Velmas)--then why should we pay his asinine opinions the slightest mind?

In the words of the lovely and delicate former First Lady Barbara Bush, "Why should we trouble our beautiful minds with the likes of an unpatriotic NON-VOTER?"

Getting back to the original question, whoever wins this election will inherit a complete mess, with many factors mitigating against success. If he can lead us through this, he is certainly worthy of praise and admiration.

A prediction is a guess; nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't have to be backed by "cold hard facts" On the other hand, the "facts" that you and PJ often spew should be, but seldom are.

As for the market, yup, it's much worse than I originally PREDICTED. (At least I admit when I'm wrong.) Looks like it will take some time for it to recover. And when it does, I can assure you, it will be the rich who continue to get richer.
