Obama goes BIG on gun control

and THIS is how the NRA responds. There is something broken in this country.
HIS kids get gun protection

I missed the speech- the first I heard was the NRA spokesman's reaction to it. did Obama really say that jack-booted storm troopers were at this hour going door to door to seize all guns and that martial law had been imposed?

I'm completely OK with the fringe lashing out. It only serves to further galvanize reasonable folks. That said, their ad focusing on the Obama kids was unconscionable.

Wait...haven't we been told countless times since 2008 that Obama would be taking the guns away from American citizens? I wonder if Republicans will ever realize their assumptions are like those of that lunatic who keeps shifting the end of the world date when it doesn't happen.

I don't get what is so hard for people to understand. Everyone who is against gun control is acting like they will have all of their guns taken away. That's not what is happening at all. I also question those who are against the background checks. I mean, if you know you will pass it, it shouldn't be a big deal. Not doing one kind of says you have something to hide.

Just out of curiosity, who are you going to blame when there is another shooting? Now that the libs have gotten their way you won't be able to blame the NRA anymore, although I'm sure you will try.

These laws aren't going to save anyone. The guns used in CT were bought legally, but obtained by the killer illegally. How are you going to stop that from happening? What he did to get the guns was illegal and you can't blame the legal system for that. He didn't buy them, he wasn't even old enough, so how are these laws going to keep criminals from buying guns off other criminals, or using someone who has a clean record to buy guns for them? It's not going to do a damn thing.
I've heard things like, "if it will save one life, make it into a law", and things to that effect, If that's the case, make cars illegal, after all, there are more people killed every year by cars than by guns.

Here's a couple of articles I posted the other day but tiny was too cowardly, or just too stupid to reply to them, so he/she? had it deleted. These are perfect examples where guns have done good, and this was just in the last week or two! But MSNBC and CNN never mention these stories.

I'm glad I live in an area where the sheriffs office has stated he won't put these laws into effect here because they're unconstitutional.

And why do you think so many people have been buying guns the last few weeks and gun stores have been having record high sales? Do you think people are buying them to go on shooting sprees? No, it's because everyone is afraid that pretty soon it's going to be almost impossible to obtain a gun legally.

And like Abby, NOBODY who called seemed to acknowledge the loss of life of CHILDREN that inspired the bill.

I'm sure Abby is behind this 100%!

What about the accidents that have caused children to injure/kill themselves and their friends, loved ones? I'm on my phone so I can't pull up the links.

A 12 year old received a shotgun for Christmas and because his parents didn't lock it up, he shoot and killed his cousin.

Or what about the other child that accidentally killed himself when he found his uncle's pistol? The uncle was a cop.

Do you see any problem with this? There are countless other examples where law abiding citizens shouldn't own weapons because they're not responsible enough to control them.

You say that criminals will just get them anyway. Fine. But if there are less guns on the street, then there are less guns in the criminals hands. Does that make sense to you?

And shooting an intruder 5 times? Either she's a really bad shot or it was Michael Myers.
