My job also has really good health insurance, so I'm good to go on that. No more HealthySF for me.
Personally, I think every town should have some version of HealthySF. It's not insurance, but a program so the non- and under-insured can get access to health care. It's paid for by taxes that are attached to your dinner bill. I was on it for 4 years, before I got the job I have now.
I still don't understand how people think its fine for public school but public health care. The two should go hand in hand.

If obamacare continues, I guess I will be forced to get it, or pay a fine every year to not have it, but don't you find it a bit unconstitutional to be forced to have a certain kind of health insurance and not be able to choose your own? I would much rather choose a company than fits my needs and isn't just a generic one that everyone has, whether you're legal or illegal, you'll have health insurance. Which is ridiculous, if you come here illegally, you shouldn't be given anything, including welfare or insurance.
Awww...well, if you're not interested in doing any research for yourself, then you go on ahead and believe all that. All private insurance companies in the US have suddenly VANISHED! Like magic! There is only one insurance company now that is completely run by the government. Insurance cards are passed out at the border of Mexico (but not Canada, because it's not like they need the US for health insurance) along with a fat envelope filled with welfare! For God's sake, whatever you do, don't actually try to LEARN what Obamacare is, how it works, or when its components become effective. Don't do it! Rush Limbaugh will EAT YOU!
But I still wonder...how, specifically, did Obama cause your parents' insurance rates to skyrocket?

It forces everyone to buy insurance and if you don't have insurance you're going to be fined every year you don't have it. Everyone seems to think it's free, news flash, it's not!! It's going to raise everyone's taxes because we're going to be paying for everyone else to have insurance, why can't people just buy their own?! You seem to think health insurance is a privilege. It's a right! There are more people living off the government now than ever! They have no incentive to get a job if they are given everything, from food, to cell phones, and now insurance! Why get a job when hard working tax payers can pay for everything for you?!

It gave people an incentive to work, if you work hard, you can afford insurance. But now people don't have to do anything and they still get insurance, that makes no sense

Obamacare is a choice. You can either go through your employer's insurance or use another insurance company. Now, if you decide not to do anything, and get hurt, get sick, etc, and need to see the doctor, what do you do?

I have to use my abbynormal account because it seems my other account has been deleted, because I'm sure someone reported me because they think it's a huge deal that I made a new account, which makes no sense to me but I guess to some people with no lives, it is a big deal.
But because of obamacare, other insurance companies are having a hard time staying in business, if you don't realize that, you're an idiot. And of course I'm going to have insurance, it's not that I don't want insurance, I just don't think everyone should have it if they can't afford it or don't want to work for it, and if they can't afford it everyone who pays taxes will have to pay for it. But liberals seem to think the government should take care of everyone and give them free food and whatever else they need, which is why there's more people on food stamps and dependent on the government now than ever before, but you can't seem to accept that!
And don't even get me started on public schools, they are just filled with liberal teachers who are trying to make their students liberal too. I had to go to public school for high school and that's all the teachers did! My AP Economics class consisted of watching An Inconvenient Truth, which has been proven to be total BS, and multiple other films that have nothing to do with economics! I don't care if you're a liberal, just don't try to convince impressionable students to have your views. I learned nothing in four years at a public school.

It's hard to find a point to address in your cavalcade but i will go back and ask: What Insurance companies are going out of business due to the Affordable Care Act? Because of the individual mandate insisted on by Republicans, all Americans will need to purchase health insurance and there IS no "Government" policy they can buy into. So how will that be bad for insurance companies?

That's fine but not all public colleges are created equal because not all college professors, public or otherwise, are created equal.
My great aunt and uncle have taught for both public and private colleges. They're both very liberal, but they love what they do. You won't pass either one of their classes without earning the grade.
They now teach in Texas, of all places.

Abbynormal, what are your thoughts on gays in public schools? Do you feel they have a right to form a gay straight alliance? Do you believe in students showing tolerance by wearing purple on a given day? What about bullying?
Also, what are your thoughts on marriage equality? Do you believe gay history or talking about people like Harvey Milk should be taught in schools?

Public universities are bad? You're from California with some of the BEST colleges private or public. Most kids would kill to get into UCLA or Berkeley. Aside from the size issues, and yeah, I personally preferred the smaller liberal arts class environment, if I had the grades to get into them, I would have applied. If you think a public university is like an older version of high school, you really need to get out more. I've sat in on classes at public universities when I was in High School student looking at schools and couldn't wait to graduate.
And really, you'll find a bunch of professors who are of all political persuasions and spectrum of Marxism you didn't even know existed at private universities, especially at them Ivies. I am assuming that just because you think it is public university it must be an arm of the big, bad liberal government but there is such a thing as academic freedom those professors have that even the so-called 'liberal' institutions struggle with.
