As I remember the people sent over to examine the spots in Iraq where they thought there were WMD kept telling Bush not to invade that they weren't finding anything, but that did not stop him.
Pick a name and stick with it.

The job market sucks. But there ARE jobs... particularly this time of the year. They may not be glamorous or have benefits. But they're there... and many people think these jobs are below them.
You Are Not 23. A liar. A lying troll who does not like being called what they are or can back up the lies they spew.I think I'm done with you. You've done more damage to your pathetic self that I ever could. Go troll and lie all you want. Everyone here knows what you are.Nice job and good luck with college, assuming you make it out of high school.

You are dealing with Romantico, possibly the stupidest person posting anywhere on the net. All he is able to do is name-call as he has no substantive response to anyone he disagrees with.

I just turned 23,
abby--you and your parents are the perfect example of people the republicans have convinced to vote against your own interest.
assuming that your temp position has health insurance, if you happen to lose your job, then find out that you have leukemia. what's your plan? the cost of chemo and bone marrow transplant comes to roughly $250,000 (ASSUMING smooth sailing). can you honestly say your parents have that kind of money laying around? according to the republican credo, you guys have to pick yourself up by your bootstraps and find a way to to pay it. do you think it's fair that your parents go bankrupt for a 50% that you might live, or do you think it's fair for the government to help you out, since your parents have generously paid 30% of their income in taxes over the years?
it doesn't have to be leukemia. pick something more common. what knowledge do you possess to know for a fact that you won't get lupus or rheumatoid arthritis? how do you know you're not gonna get hit by a car and be left on a ventilator? how does your anti "obamacare" family plan to foot the bill?
(only he's not a teacher but he likes to pretend he is)
bethnor, I actually have rheumatoid arthritis, I've had it for the last 9 years since I was 14, and we made it through with out private health insurance just fine. Sure there were some tough times, but the insurance was able to cover a lot.
And Mikey, I'm glad to finally see someone on here with some common sense, I've noticed there aren't very many on here.

Ms Normal, in your first sentence you say you made it through without health insurance and in your second you said health insurance covered something. I'm sure you can understand my confusion. Again, could you clarify what happened to cause your parents' insurance rates to skyrocket and what the president did to cause that? Thanking you once again, in advance.

so... what happens if your parents lose their job? who will pay for your biologics? what's your plan? do you, or don't you have the extra $1000/month for the etanercept? what will you do if you lose your insurance and need a joint replacement? long-term RA also carries a risk of CAD. what if you need a bypass and don't have a job? will you have that kind of money saved up?
FOUR MORE YEARS of THIS???? You've GOT to be kidding!!
that's dead easy. as average as obama is, at least i know with him, we're moving forward together. with the option, it's the 1% who move forward, and they MIGHT take us along and give us some of their leavings, so long as we know our place, and less so if we are anything other than a white male christian. no thanks.
i mean, you're very unconvincing. with my degree, i'll always have a well paying job, always have health insurance, and will be well taken care of. if you're a teacher, i know that you could lose your job at a drop of a hat. what's your plan to take care of your children if one of them develops leukemia after your COBRA expires? do you have $250,000 saved up to pay for it? again, it doesn't have to be that exotic. all that has to happen is some drunk loser plows into one of them, or a random bullet from a gun pierces their skull. if you're out of a job and your COBRA is gone, what is your plan to foot the medical bill, which can run into the millions?

Typo, *with our* private health insurance, sorry about that

you reading comprehension is not adequate. if your parents lose their job, no more private health insurance after the COBRA expires. so what is your plan to pay for your biologics in that instance? do you, or don't you, have that kind of disposable income?
It's basically in remission and under control now and I haven't had too many problems with it in the last couple of years, so I probably won't need a replacement anytime soon, but I do realize I may need a joint replacement in the future, but I assume I will have my own insurance by then and not on my parent's plan anymore, and have a decent enough job to cover the rest of it. How do you think people paid for joint replacements before obamacare? With there own insurance!
Sure, sure.
I love how the President's office is responsible for things like tuition and gas prices.
I go to a very expensive private arts school because I choose to. People choose to go to college. People choose to buy cars and buy gas, when most major cities have public transportation. People also choose to live in towns where they need cars, and I understand that choice. People choose not to use bicycles, or walk, the block and a half to the supermarket and Starbucks. Some people choose to drive.
Point is, the way you live your life is a choice. You can't blame the President for an expensive education and high gas prices when you choose to buy a car and go to school.

do some research and find out what the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US is. many middle class citizens did find themselves without a job and without insurance during a medical disaster. do you think it's fair that they go bankrupt for a situation that is out of their control, or not?
and that's a big assumption on your part. you don't have a job now. what knowledge do you have, that i don't, that you will have one in ten years? again, i can confidently say that, with my degree, i will always have a good paying job (they always need people with my degree). this is obviously not the case with you.
If obamacare continues, I guess I will be forced to get it, or pay a fine every year to not have it, but don't you find it a bit unconstitutional to be forced to have a certain kind of health insurance and not be able to choose your own? I would much rather choose a company than fits my needs and isn't just a generic one that everyone has, whether you're legal or illegal, you'll have health insurance. Which is ridiculous, if you come here illegally, you shouldn't be given anything, including welfare or insurance.

Don't worry Abby, it's a good thing Romney isn't going to be elected because if he were, you'd lose your coverage because of your previously existing condition.
Alas, I have a sibling who supports Romney. She is a perpetual victim who is always getting off on the idea of people exploiting her. Hidden agendas and whisper-campaign screw-overs. Every job she has ever had has been managed by someone who is specifically out to get HER. She sees herself as being a minority in jeopardy when in fact she is a healthy white woman with a fine job and a nice condo in tony downtown San Diego filled with rather pricey and good-quality furniture. She also owns a motorcycle and a car.
The other Romney supporter I know is a guy I went to college with in the mid-nineties. He was really sweet but people warned me not to ask him how he felt about the government because if you did, he'd go off on how the government was planning war against its people and we as citizens needed to arm ourselves when this war happened. This was before that whole subcultural energy found its ultimate expression in the Oklahoma City bombing. He frequently posts on Facebook alternating between congratulating himself on his own hard-work ethic, and bitching about how he has nothing and what he does have is going to be taken away.
Romney has got nothing going on his campaign except FEAR, FEAR, and more FEAR. I choose not to live that way, thanks.
Whatever you say namo! But Romney is ahead in the polls so I wouldn't be too sure Obama is going to win just yet! I'm not saying it's a dead lock for Romney, but it's definitely not a dead lock for Obama either
"Jungle Red, you sound a lot like the type of rich person the not-so-rich don't like."
I'm not rich by any means. While I make good money, the government is paying for my college tuition in the way of loans. I'm guessing I'll be at least $50,000 dollars in debt once I graduate. Probably more.
I also live in San Francisco, and I use MUNI every day. My rent is cheap compared to my friends and I don't really have any bills besides my MetroPCS phone bill and my monthly MUNI pass. I don't have any credit cards.
I'm sorry if I came across as a 1%er. I am a proud card carrying Democrat and part of the 99%.
Ahead in the polls? General dead heat but state to state with electoral votes has Obama a 2-1 edge of winning. If you believe in Gallup then yes, Romney is ahead but it is not a good indicator.
And I read Jungle Red's post that suddenly became a 1% shame game to be closer to Jungle Red just saying we are in a nation where there is choice which makes the whole ideas that Obama is the harbinger of socialism more laughable.
Also calling a person illegal is one of the dumbest buzzwords in recent political history. What about the people around your stated age who had no control over their parents coming here and have lived here their whole lives? I've worked with those people, and they are as American as apple pie. That they are not entitled to the same things I am because of a piece of paper that was out of their control is stupid. You can tell me they are taking away jobs and whatever but unless you and others are willing to work the jobs they do, as in a whole lot of the service industry, I don't want to hear it.

that's not my problem. you guys are the ones who booed the public health option off the table. your pundits claim obama is a leftist, but the individual mandate was a sop to YOU guys so that the private companies could keep getting money and not have to "compete" with the government.
and how terrible that the ACA helps you get insurance you can afford, and stops insurance companies from denying you coverage for your pre-existing condition. what kind of commie are you, to demand your fellow americans to help you pay? YOUR RA. YOUR problem.
what a nice world you imagine for everyone, abby.
if you come here illegally, you shouldn't be given anything, including welfare or insurance.
that's a nicely regurgitated talking point and an interesting way of changing the subject, but you do realize that ERs are not allowed to turn away anyone who is in duress? and it is certainly true that illegals are needed emergent care that was expensive, but since there's no safety net to pay for it, the system just eats it, which is what drives cost up? also, you are aware that illegal immigrants on the payroll pay social security tax, but don't have real SSN so they can't collect it themselves (i.e., they help py for everyone else's retirement).
