The President: "The truth is, it took nearly a decade of failed economic policies to create this mess, and it will take years to fully repair the damage."
Barbara: Mr. President, if you were a tree, what tree would you be?
Joy: Mr. President, are you Brad Pitt's sexier brother?
Sherri: Mr. President, what do you plan to do about the brothers?
Whoopi: Mr. President, what the f*ck...oops did I just say f*ck in front of the President of the Free World?
"Sherri: Mr. President, what do you plan to do about the brothers?"
huh?

Erik, you must not know any African-Americans. That's how they talk.

Thoughts?
Actually Joe, it would be "brothas".

Things must be bad for him to be doing this show. But it's worth it just to hear Babs say, "We'll be wite back with Pwesident Bah-wok Obama."
I watched the first 15 minutes, will watch the rest on DVR later. I've been wondering what the anti-Obama pundits will seize on and so far I think they will run with "We just know more about it" and "the lizard part of our brains."
The first was in reference to the US being a nation of mongrels even among white people, who aren't as aware of that fact as, for example bi-racial people. This will be used by the "Obama is a RACIST!" crowd.
The reference to the lizard part of the brain will be used by the creationists. "Maybe HE thinks he evolved from a lizard but I was personally hand-crafted by God."
I liked how he slowed down and proved his point to Elisabeth without seeming to belittle her too much.
Could those ninnies ask any more stupid questions? Ugh
I didn't really get the point of that.
of course everyone played it safe and didn't ask any "real" questions. what a waste of time.

I thought Joy's "why don't YOU have a narrative?" was a pretty good question in the first segment.
And his answer was that it was her job. He dropped the ball.

But then he said you don't want to have to campaign while you're governing, which I get, but not the nature of the beast in this modern era.
I understand that he wants to be widely seen, he had an unannounced press conference last Friday to highlight what he signed that got lost in the Sherrod controversy, but he has to know that going on The View some of his message is going to get lost by the hosts regurgitating the same controversies from the last week and previously. Now there was some good questions but I think that question Joy had about a narrative shows the paradox that Obama got himself into by going on.

Perhaps one should only put quotes around exact words people actually said out loud.

Goth: "My secret sinful sexual fantasies involve what I'm gonna to to the brothers."
"Maybe HE thinks he evolved from a lizard but I was personally hand-crafted by The Franklin Mint."
I am watching it now. Wasn't happy that he dropped the ball on Joy's question. And when she asked it I was so happy she did and thought we might finally get at least a partial answer.
So far, I think the show has been fine. I didn't expect them to get into anything too complicated. For me, appearances like this bring out a bit of the "human" side of the president. We usually get these appearances on late night shows so it is nice to see him and the vice president on daytime tv. Just my random thoughts.
off-topic but
Is that the same earpiece Angela Lansbury was using in A Little Night Music?
She used an earpiece in Blithe Spirit, not Night Music.

i think Goth's use of quotes is correct: You are permitted to "quote" anything you KNOW another person is thinking.

Oddly found myself spending time with Elisabeth H this morning, backstage at "The View."
And of course she's the friendliest person there.
I was more impressed with Elisabeth than I thought I would be today. She was very respectful while getting her questions in and to be honest, that "Will they have jobs when they graduate?" was a good question.
