I guess my diminished enthusiasm can best be expressed by the fact that I'm not in DC this time. 2008 was such an incredible moment, and there was no way I was going to miss it. This time around--meh; I've got stuff to do at home.
Looking forward to his speech, though. And--of course--eager to catch every detail of FLOTUS' outfit. That Isobel Toledo jacket was such a knockout last year. I would love to see something equally stylish and unexpected.
She's got me worried with these bangs, though...

I have no less enthusiasm. The alternative was so repugnant. Great day for the country!
While I'm all behind the Obamas, I always thing the "re" inauguration is always lacking.
But yes, looking forward to the speech.
Are you?
I find they make her look so...ordinary--like every cashier in the City.

Ordinary? She looks like an ass kicking member of The X Men this morning.
Yeah, I really am. I think she looks young, hip, and chic.
I love the bangs on her!

What can we do to get that glass half full for you, dramamama?
She looks amazing. Next week every other woman in America will have bangs.
Snowed in at home today, so am watching some American theatre-of-state.
I think it was really important for the message the US sends to the rest of the world that this particular President got a second term, and I'm glad he did.
The BBC is running a lot of commentary over the addresses though.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir was glorious. Oh the tears!
They sounded great, but I thought the arrangement was kind of cheesy.
A friend's Facebook status: "These new Michelle Obama bangs prove, once and for all, that this administration means business for gay rights."
LOL. I give in! If it's good for the Gays, then who am I to fight them?
Personally, I think the Thom Browne coat-dress is better for the Gays, but I will try to adjust my world-view...
Oh, Mr. President. You had me at "our gay brothers and sisters".
Is this the first POTUS speech to ever name-check Stonewall?
"Tears sprang to my eyes"--turns out that's not just an expression...
Do you think Mitt Romney would have made a point of supporting "our gay brothers and sisters"?????

Seriously. The president of the united states mentioned Stonewall in his inauguration speech.

I had to back up the dvr a bit to make sure I heard "Stonewall."
The first black president connecting Stonewall to Selma in an inaugural address?
That's epic.
