My wife lost her original doctor of 35 years plus her gyno doctor plus the facility she used for mamos due to this wonderful law. She finally found replacements last month and was very happy. Now she finds out her new primary was terminated by Mt Sinai due to this wonderful law. In addition, it turns out rates may double next year. Yeah she is really glad this was enacted especially to reduce costs and improve care.
She is scrambling to find new doctor. She may just get catastrophic policy and pay when she goes to the doctor and pay for tests and medicine on her own as she is fed up at this point. I told her call Chuckie Schumer's office and tell him a camera will be there. This should resolve the problem.

Posted: 3/25/14 at 6:05pmI on the other hand am one of those people who ObamaCare - The Affordable Care Act - has helped. I have the best coverage I've ever had and I'm paying less than ever. I acknowledge that many people have been hurt by this law and many have been helped. I wonder how it will balance out. I'm thinking that more people were helped than hurt, but that is just my political slant and I'm waiting for the numbers.

Mrs. R just seems to be the most unlucky person in the world and she just cannot catch a break...
Now I'll ask, has she attempted to ENTER the exchange or is she just one of those people who refuse it so they complain when things go awry when they refuse to use it?

"She finally found replacements last month and was very happy."
Wait, you left that part out last month. All you did was complain about how miserable she was and what a disaster the whole thing had been. Now you're telling us she was actually happy?

"I told her call Chuckie Schumer's office and tell him a camera will be there."
If you actually want Schumer's help, you might want to consider addressing him as Senator, rather than Chuckie.

To Theater Fan
She got the policy through the exchange after many hair pulling episodes of waiting endlessly on the phone. She tried to play by the rules and got bupkis for her efforts.
She actually had the coverage and went to the new primary . She was happy with it. Happiness turned out to be fleeting.

Phyllis, you are on ignore so I cannot read your expected blast of me. Hopefully you will be happy when your employer drops your coverage and you have to fend for yourself getting a plan thru Obamacare. You will be singing a different tune than as will many who support the law and Obama no matter how much he screws up and uses the constitution as a doormat.
Have a nice day

Posted: 3/25/14 at 7:14pmBut you recently replied directly to me, Roxy. So I know that's not true. Why don't you want to answer the question? What's the big deal? If she was happy, even for just a month, why have you been painting an entirely different picture?

Marianne, I think Mr. Roxy meant that his wife is considering getting catastrophic coverage and then paying as she goes for everyday items.
Roxy, there's no question the insurance companies are pushing back. Did we expect otherwise?
But I not only pay 1/2 of what I used to pay each month, my deductible is 1/3 of what it used to be. My maximum ($6k per year) remains the same.
It's true that some of my doctors have chosen not to participate in CoveredCA, but once my deductible is paid, I will still be reimbursed for 50% of the cost of seeing them. So, basically, it costs me an extra $10 per visit to keep my former doctors. Given that I'm saving $500/month in premiums, that's still a great deal.
I don't know what state you and your wife live in, but your description of her "problem" seems inconsistent with the plans I have seen here in California.
Taking a temper tantrum every time you get a new piece of info may keep you from realizing that Obamacare is, for most of us, a great deal!

We are in NY. The doctors I go to said the law is a disaster for them.
It is not a temper tantrum just frustration setting in. When more and more people are adversely affected by it more dissatisfaction will grow. If the law is so good, why might the senate change to Republican hands this November. Why did Max Baccus decline to run saying the law was a train wreck ? He helped draft it.
Obama flat out lied when he said you could keep your doctor. He knew when he said it that it was a lie. Reminds me of LBJ running for reelection saying he would not send troops to Vietnam when he knew that is exactly what he intended to do. Pregnant women being told their doctors could no longer see them (happened at my wifes now deposed primary)Do not see how this helps people.

In my case, the biggest confusion has come from Blue Shield, which quite literally sent me a new bill every day for almost a month, each with a different amount owed.
And each day I'd spend a half-hour on the phone only to be told to ignore the erroneous statement.
I think they've finally got it together, but "Obamacare" isn't to blame for insurance company confusion.

When are told what the cutoff date is for signing up and than Obama just keeps changing it at will. They are in a state of confusion and do not know which way to turn and what is coming next. The insurance companies will soon be receiving money from the government covering up to 80% their losses to date. This is tax dollars for the hated insurance companies. This is the only way they signed on. This is like going to Vegas, gambling like a drunken sailor knowing the casino would return 80% of what you lost.
