Also, is anyone else old enough to remember the sitcom with the guy who's left to care for his young teenage sister and trying to get a free college education? He would determine who would be absent, and audit the classes. It was actually better than it sounds, but I can't recall the name of it.

Posted: 2/9/10 at 12:59pmThough it was a bit cloying, I really liked First Monday and to a lesser extent, its competitive series, The Court. Commander in Chief with Geena Davis was canceled way too soon. I also remember some sort of FBI drama series in the late 90s that was shown in wide screen letterbox format that was really good, but it was canceled after one or two episodes. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

The Puzzle Place
Tiny Toon Adventures
Pepper Ann.
I adored Wishbone. I even liked Caitlin's Way but I thought Viacom/Nickelodeon put that show on the wrong network. It was totally out of place on Nick.
So Weird

Posted: 2/9/10 at 1:54pmI really liked "Jack and Bobby" from about 5 years ago. Christine Lahti as the mom of two teenaged boys - one of whom would eventually become President.

I loved Andy Richter Controls the Universe! Ahead of its time and gone too soon. I found the show I couldn't remember, Hank. There's even a page devoted to it!

Anyone else remember THE FIVE MRS. BUCHANANS? A ton of stage talent on that show, from legendary Eileen Heckart to Judith Ivey and Harriet Harris.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but I remember loving Nightmare Cafe (starring Robert Englund aka Freddy Kruger) and The Charmings.
Andy Richter Controls the Universe was so underrated - Better Off Ted was similar and will soon be added to this list if it already officially isn't...

The Sifl and Olly Show is one of the best half-hour comedies that exists. So weird.
Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers and Talespin were fantastic for children's shows in the 80s. I look back on them fondly.
I also loved Small Wonder, Out of this World, and the Harry and the Henderson's sitcoms.
Man I wish COP ROCK were out on DVD. I would watch it every week. Rags to Riches was another one.
I too like Freddy's Nightmares, the anthology horror series Chiller has been rerunning. They are sheer cheese and feature many well known actors when they were young like Brad Pitt, Mariska Hartigay, John Cameron Mitchell, and Timothy Bottoms (ooh, there's another one! That's My Bush is genius!!)
But the best obscure show of all:
On The Air from David Lynch and Mark Frost

Yes. I mentioned it in my first post, along with Fair Exchange.

Bascially, growing up, if I liked a show-it got cancelled. A few of my obscure faves:
Tattingers-with Stephen Collins, Blythe Danner, Marybeth Hurt about a restauranteur and his ex-wife. Hurt played the eccentric chef. I loved it.
Nightingales-the strippers turned Nurses show with Suzanne Pleshette. Loved it!
Paper Dolls-with Teri Farrell and Nicolette Sheridan about the teen models. Loved it!
The Stockard Channing Show-short lived comedy series with Channing, Mimi Kennedy, and Ron Silver. It was campy, but Channing was very slapstick and fun. I bought the whole series. (One season and they revamped it half-way through)

Posted: 2/9/10 at 6:53pmNightengales...that rings a bell. Wasn't one of them actually in hiding after witnessing a murder?

Freaks & Geeks.
Is that an obscure show? It only lasted a season but was GENIUS.

Posted: 2/9/10 at 6:56pmNightengales-yes, Eris, each nurse had her own backstory and only one was a former stripper, but all of them were from a halfway house and one had witnessed a murder. They never got to resolve that plotline. Nurses got their panties in a bunch and protested the network-they thought it degraded nurses.
