It is strange, almost antithetical, to me that a permit is needed to protest. Sorry to hear the smaller towns are having trouble gaining traction. A ragtag bunch in Charleston recently heckled Bachman off the stage. The police swept them away, and she came back, but it's the little things.
Re, the lack of violence (from the protesters. I hope it continues. We don't want another
Ludlow massacre.

I agree about the permit thing. But it does make me laugh when former members of the now-defunct tea party gripe about how THEY always complied with permit regulations. Cuz, you know, they were SO anti-goverment!
Yes. OWS makes so much sense. It is a great thing for the democrat party and for the country. Just look at this link. I'm hoping that Barack and Moochelle can rush right down to Dallas for campaign footage.

Taz, here's a tremendous take-down of Miller by Rick Moody ("The Ice Storm") that's a great reminder that Hollywood isn't just the so-called liberal elite, it's also the crypto-fascist elite:

Dead on, Namo. There may have been fake human blood (what does that even mean?) somewhere, but most of the blood spilled and bones broken has belonged to the protesters.

Oh yes, yes! I agree.
Tune out the reality of the rest of the country, insulate one's self against the reality, and keep fighting this same battle alongside Barack and Moochelle.
Please take this case to the country. They are so supportive. Barack can win the White House with 33% of the voters, can't he?
LOL

I don't actually remember much about the Gladiator plot line to know if Moody's allegorical take is accurate. Luckily, none of the cast resembled W physically.

I never was a Miller fan, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by his stance. I was really taken aback by his vehemence.
Never seen Gladiator - probably never will.

Miller's always been pathological... I'm surprised he isn't smart enough to realize how many fanboys are involved in Occupy and that calling them pond scum is just what the hippies often called the warmongers in the '60s. Now it's the bitter old men saying it about the activists.
Did anyone watch the 60 minutes spot on homeless children? Heartbreaking yet at the same time reminding one of the how strong, giving, and resourceful we as a people can be.

I'm going to watch it later. Seems there have been a LOT of heartbreaking stories lately. My local Occupy collects canned food for the local food bank because people without a lot seem to have a true ability to empathize with those who have even less. And to pitch in.
That was a great link Namo (the one rebutting Miller). Thanks for sharing it.
There is a longer discussion to be had about that segment of Hollywood and how its influence and impact on cinematic themes is shrinking as foreign markets are quickly becoming where the real money is, but perhaps in another thread. I don't want to tangent off topic here.
But let me just say that Miller is the aughts version of Joe Eszterhas. And you are spot on about the people he's criticizing being a large part of his fan base.

Ugh. Eszterhaus. I suppose Miller will be born again any day now.
I just read today at Occupy Boston, they're having a too big to fail banks "need a haircut" action... pretty funny:

You know the movement is resonating deeply when even Miley Cyrus stands in solidarity.

Every movement has their hero's.
Barack and Moochelle should be out there more.
Namo, did you read about Emma Sullivan - a Kansas HS Student who dared to criticize/make fun of her governor, and refused to have her 1st Amendment speech stifled.
Apparently, his "staff" has nothing better to do than to troll twitter postings looking for content to become offended about. Perhaps the first thing they should look to cut in Kansas is the Governor's staff.
After going to her HS principal and demanding she apologize for her tweets, and then her principal ordering her to write an apology to the Governor, she refused. And, now, he has apologized to her.
Good for her.

So funny. I immediately started many twitter posts including his name so the Governor's twitter trolls have a lot more to troll for! If you do it, be sure to include Emma's hashtag from the assembly: #heblowsalot. How funny for a sitting governor to lose a popularity contest with a high school girl! Apparently she has WAY MORE Twitter followers than Brownback does now.
And how about that judge kicking the SEC's butt for being ever so cozy with Wall Street today? The message is CLEARLY getting through and the times they are a'changin', it's a'blowin' in the wind. A landmark decision, a great day for America.
Please continue and expand everything OWS!!!!
It is working.
Carter? Bammy? Which one loses by the greatest margin...
The reason why OWS resonates is because of stuff like this:
Hank Paulson Paulson fed inside information to his former co-workers at Goldman Sachs and friends about a pending federation action against Freddie and Fannie while at the same time misleading Congress and the run of the mill investor on the situation. He told the truth to those he was close with who could profit off of the situation.
This is why the 99% have had it.
How Paulson Gave Hedge Funds Advance Word
If they could just make some Barry and Moochelle commercials to capitalize on this great movement, it would be great for the campaign.

I can't imagine even the most ardent apologist/team player can easily shrug this off as unimportant. Maybe a, "They ALL cheat, they're all just as bad!". Or a Victoria Jackson might squeak, "The job creators have to cut corners so they can't get some money to create jobs. Just as soon as the Antichrist is defeated and all regulations are lifted on corporations." Luckily she's an army of approximately one.

Funny tweet today from Gov. Buddy Roemer: Gov. Buddy Roemer
Gingrich wants Obama to "repudiate the concept of the 99%?" Well, I'd like Gingrich stop lobbying for the 1%.
It's funny cuz it's truuuuuuuuuue.
