Oooh! Yaaaay for making games.
I'm so happy all of you get to meet. I only wish I could be there with you all!
Yeah, I am still sorry I didn't make "Lend Me A Tenor", GG. Being on the left coast, I am sure our paths will cross someday.

I forgive you!
Yeah, we'll meet someday...someway...
A little snippet from the article:
Butz has been on Roth's radar for almost a decade, since Roth first saw the actor in the Broadway production of "Rent." After attending a preview of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in February, Roth, who already had a deal in place with CBS and Paramount TV to develop comedy series, felt that Butz would be perfect on a sitcom.
"I believe he's got something really special and will become a big television star," Roth said. "He's got charm and (knack for) physical comedy like Jack Black, and he looks like a regular guy."
Hopefully they'll get a good writing team in place and this will be a hit. Although, I find it odd that this person thought Norbert would be a good sitcom star after seeing him in Rent.
Tony Winner Butz Lands Sitcom Deal
How exciting!
I really hope they can find something of quality for him.
Well I have mixed feelings about this
I mean yaay for Norbie, he is soo talented and totally deserves this..
But...I hope we don't lose him from stage to screen. He's too valuable a live theatre performer for that to happen.
It will be better for him to gain the exposure and attention of television. I hope he will do both, but that is up to him.
Then when he comes back everyone can complain of "stunt casting" and be amazed that he can sing.
I think this is great news...am I alone in watching "Twins" for Chris Fitzgerald? Hopefully, Norbs' vehicle will show the full range of his talents. You could tell from that brief "Law and Order:SVU appearance--the camera loves Norbs!
And Smart Penguin--VERY funny comment.
That's my worry, wendy. That Norb will be stuck in something like "Twins".
But I'd love him on "My Name is Earl". ha ha.
If he lands a quality role, I'll be thrilled.
Patronus, I live on Long Island but I can get to the city in 35 mins on most days. I will most certainly help increase your Rent chances if possible haha
As for the sitcom thing, it probably wont begin shooting until Norbert is finished with DRS (March as of now) I believe so he can use his 'down time' during plays/musical for it. Norbert needs national exposure. People keep coming to see DRS for John Lithgow. Just once, I would like people to say they are coming to see NLB. The sitcom may be key to more fortutious name recognition for Norbert.
Honestly, I couldn't care less about John Lithgow. I hope he is in when I see because I want to see the chemistry between him and Norbert, but I believe I can actually say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am seeing this show because of Norbert and really wouldn't care to see it if it weren't for him?
Patronus, one more time, what is the exact date for all this. I want to be sure I have it right. Next Sat night you are seeing DRS and Sunday you want to see Rent?
Yep, next Saturday night (11/19) I have front row seats for DRS. My wife and I are entering the lottery in hopes to get Smartpenguin78 and Mrs. Smartpenguin and WickedRentQ into the show as well.
Sunday night (11/20) after seeing the matinee of See What I Wanna See, we are going to hustle over to the Nederlander with hopes of seeing Rent from the front row. Hopefully, we will have procured SRO seats prior to this as a fall back option.
And...if you really like me, Wednesday (11/23) matinee I might try the Spelling Bee lottery or see The Color Purple.
I'll post my full schedule otherwise when I am home tonight.
Heheh sounds good. I am going to ask my god sister if she wants to see DRS that night. I will probably get us front mezz tickets because she is a newbie to DRS. And this will be your first time as well, Patronus?
Plus, all six of us should try and have lunch or dinner together so we can some nice DRS/Norbert/theatre conversation!
So then you and your god sister will help us w/ lotto too right Ryan? This is really beginning to sound like fun!
Hmm...maybe I'll try to talk to certain ppl this Saturday when I go about our special trip next week and maybe special plans can be arranged...
I have the Naked Girl matinee and ice cream after, so I would only be able to do dinner.
Alejandra and I just read the great news and were so excited and then it set in that we could be losing our fave guy to tv and now I'm sad. I'm so weird. But I know that we'll all be so excited when we see his sitcom commercials and stuff. I just hope it films in NY so he can still do concerts and benefits.
Well, like broadway betty, I had mixed feelings about this. I am happy that people are recognizing Norbert's talent. He most definitely deserves it. And the man is funny as hell.
However, the comparison to Jack Black upsets me. Not that I don't like Jack Black--I do--but Norbert is SO much more than what he shows as Freddy. I am afraid that execs in Hollywood will want to pigeonhole our beautiful man into some jokester. Norbert makes a sensational Freddy but Norbert is not Freddy. And I really would like to see him in a dramatic role next.
*sigh* I know it's early and I am a perpetual worrywart. At least, I hope the shows films in New York and that he will come back to theatre.
A.
We will work it out Amanda. It sounds like much fun ^^. I see you are doing that Ice Cream with Matt thing then haha (at Cold Stone?) My god sister cannot make it to DRS that night alas but I may bring someone else. Its gonna to be a blast.
As for the Norbert sitcom, I doubt its going to keep him away from Broadway for long. He may film all the episodes while he is rehearsing his next project. I am sure we wont be loosing Norbert any time soon.
Nope Ben and Jerry's, I'm not a huge Coldstone fan. They just put one in our mall and it was overcharged and too filling for anyone to finish. But my personal fav is carvel.
Hmmm...this sucks, see I'm very tempted to say I'll just take the other seat and avoid lotto but...ulgh I'd prob do it if the discount were $50 instead of $75, sorry.
It all sounds like such fun.
We are making a real BWW event out of it, and its a week long festival.
P- I know what you are saying, I would have had no interest in seeing the show if it were not for Norbert also.
But, don't sell the cast short, they are all excellent. John's portrayal is amazing, and he really holds the show together in the perfect way for Norbert to shine, I have grown a tremendous respect for his ability because of this show.
Hee, the Patronus Festival.
I don't mean to sell the cast short at all. I love Joanna Gleason and Sherie Rene Scott. I don't know a ton about Greg Jbara, but I like him.
However, I'd likely see something else in it's place if it weren't for Norbert.

I added a comment above, at the same time Patronus posted.
I really like the Norbert sitcom idea, I hope whatever it is gets picked up, and I think he can do both, Hank Azaria and Jeffrey Tambor.
A Patronus festival is great, a big hugging, dancing Fuzzles is mine.
"expecto patronum"
Or in true NY Theatre fan fashion:
Patronus @ Ars Nova.
Another day, another day of Norbert not replying with his okay. Now that the site is ready to go, I am getting anxious hehe. Maybe tomorrow?
