P- I haven't decided yet, but it is so easy to try.
WRQ- I figured there were crazier ones out there, but I think we share the BWW record, and I have really fallen off by being out of town for three months of that time. My "percentage" of available times is very high.
ETA: WRQ wins.
Hey I should go to that night Patronus and try for the lotto. Maybe Smart and I should enter the lotto together? As for your question, on the About Norbert page, I have a list of everything he has ever done. I would put the festival work on the Roles of NLB page but I have no pictures or information to use at the moment. Its so great that you saw him there! I am still a relatively new NLB fan (saw him live for the first time at Wicked) but Id love to see his earlier work.

Hmm...I'm going to the Naked Girl matinee that day...talking to a friend about a night show...maybe if that doesn't work out, I can join the DRSers at lotto...
I won't be needing lottery tickets, so assuming that my flight gets in on time and I have the time to get settled in, my wife and I would be happy to come over and toss our names in the lottery to help you guys out. If we win them, we can give them to you guys, right? I have front row center! w00 h00. Of course, you guys sat there for $20, I paid $100 - but beggars can't be choosers.
What time is the lottery? My only concern is that my flight doesn't get in until around 3. Sometimes my back gets a little stuff so I was hoping to lay down on the bed and then take a hot shower before the show but I could possibly get checked in, go over to the theatre to do the lottery and then go back to the hotel to get ready. That could work right?
Of course, I'll probably win and lose all my lotto karma and end up having to see Rent from the Lion King stage door.
You do have to admit that there is something amusing about a guy from Los Angeles helping out 3 New Yorkers win a lottery to see a show.
SP78, did you say at one point that you got tickets to see SWIWS the same day that I am? I am giving some thought to selling them and seeing In My Life or something else. Thoughts?

I have tickets to that SWIWS, because at the time it was the last performance. I haven't seen it yet, but I am growing more and more fond of the laChusia Wild Party, so I am hoping it is quality. Also I love the Mary Testa.
My personal thoughts on IML are that it is not fun enough to bother with, I found it much closer to just bad, than so bad it's good. Most seem to think otherwise though, and it is a classic as far a weird random things happening on stage.
The Lotto is drawn at 6, as long as the name is in before that you are golden. It would be bad to use up the Lotto Karma though, I had that happen to me once when I won Wicked for my family, then lost the next 7 times I tried DRS.
If you are close to the hotel, that is perfect, I always use the 6-7:30 time to eat at Cosi, or something.
Wow thanks Patronus. In my experience, you're 20 times more likely to win a lotto if you're entering on behalf of someone else. I tried Wicked lotto maybe 5 times, never won...then my friend who I was going to dinner w/ had plans later, but I made her come w/ me to the lotto, she entered her name, first time she ever did it, and she won out of 400 people. Go figure.
That brings up a concern for me, sp78.
In regards to SWIWS. How far is the Public Theatre from the Main Broadway Theatre District?
Are we going to have time to get back to the Nederlander to enter the lottery for Rent on Sunday night?
I can't imagine there would be a problem in me helping out on the lottery on Saturday for DRS unless the flight gets delayed.
wickedrentq, if you could return the favor on Sunday night for lotto Rent tickets, I'd be eternally grateful.
Too bad the lotto seats for DRS are the balcony seats, not the first row anymore. But its still a great view!
Patronus, I'm sorry, I don't actually live in the city! I'm from the suburbs and I drive down, so it's pretty hard to justify coming to the city two days in a row...well...I could stay w/ a friend...hmmm, I'll see as it gets closer, also depends on the homework situation
P- I was worried about that, when I bought the SWIWS tickets I actually thought they were for the week after you were here.
The subway trip from E.8th to 42nd is fast, including waiting for the train it would be 30 minutes, we could also grab a cab since there are four of us so travel will be fine. I have no idea how long SWIWS's running time is though.
Since Rent's lotto draws at 6, that gives us a four hour window to see SWIWS and get back to the theatre district. I think it is doable.
I also wish the DRS lotto was still front row, but the boxes are also great.
In some ways I wish DRS was still lottery also, although since I know I have front center, I am thrilled. Let's wish it was lottery after my trip.
Okay, good. I am still going to get SRO tickets for Rent that morning and then try for the lottery. I figure I'll be able to get rid of the SRO should we get lotto seats, no?
I think liotte was going to help us on the lottery - we should try and recruit a few more.
Sorry Pengy, think I pull ahead in just this category. Pretty sure a ticket for Sat nite row D orch kinda fell into my lap
WRQ, that's ok. I'll catch back up soon enough.
P- Considering the likelyhood of all of us actually getting lotto seats, I think you have a good idea of who will grab those SROs.
FrontRow center at DRS are my fsvorite seats of any show I have seen. What you miss in pull picture is made up for by a thousand times just by the ability to see the amaxing things they do with thier faces.
Who else could we recruit? hmmm... I am blanking at the moment.
Oh, I thought you were getting SROs too.
If you weren't buying SROs then OF COURSE you get them. No question at all.
As for recruiting... is Pinguin in NY? I hear that luvtheemcee likes to do these things, maybe we could convince her? I am going to try and rope mabel into helping me also.
I never figured out how to get SROs, the plan is still up in the air. Mainly because I haven't gotten it all worked out with the lady, I flip back and forth on the plans.
Getting SRO is what I am probably going to do though. So disregard that last post, I'm just thinking in post form half the time.
Pinguin is not here, she is pretty far away I believe.
Emcee would be a good recruit, if she isn't on "Never leave the Hilton" watch.
Hey dont forget about me. I am game for anything with you guys. DRS for the sixth time? You bet! Maybe if Norbert knows me enough by then I can introduce you guys. Wouldnt that be a thrill!

Don't worry, sp, it looks marvelous.
Can't wait to actually work on this site!
Wait I'm confused. Are you guys talking about Rent or DRS? I thought it was Rent but then someone mentioned DRS and now I'm confused...ah well. If possible, I'll do DRS lotto Sat nite, so that's my part in all this, take care of my own confusion.
We are talking about BOTH!
DRS on Saturday and Rent on Sunday night.
Okay, I will hopefully be at DRS lotto Sat nite
Sorry about the three posts O.o What I was saying that I am will go wherever you guys want to. Norbert fans united! We are the brothers to the always excellent GFU. Oh and dont worry Gav, I only laid the groundwork for some parts of the sites. It will be up to my cowebmasters to help me gather materials, write up some columns, make some games?, etc etc. Plenty of work ahead but as for now, the site is certainly ready to be enjoyed by all.
SirLiir, you live in the city, right?
If you could come and continue to pad our Rent lotto odds on Sunday night, that would be great.
The short story is that my wife and I were huge Rentheads back in the mid to late 90s. Saw it upwards of 50 times each. We haven't seen the show since 1999 and are looking at this as sort of a "closure" performance. We cringe at the thought of seeing it from anywhere except front row.
At this point, including my wife and I, I believe we have 6 people who have their names in the lotto on our behalf.
