Alejandra, my mom's never seen Rent, but I imagine her reaction would be similar. She adored DRS.
I don't know why it's taken me so darn long to post on this thread!
Adore him. As does my niece. I am so thrilled he has such an exciting role and that he is just SHINING in it!
That is true--he looks so confident and at home on the stage. This man oozes talent! I hope DRS has a long run.
emcee: that's cool that your mom adored DRS! Since my family doesn't live in NY, I end up seeing shows on tour. My mom enjoyed Aida when she saw it in NY, thought Miss Saigon was OK(she enjoyed Phantom better) and fell asleep during Beauty and the Beast. LOL.
wendy: too bad we missed John but he'll probably turn up at another interview. He did Conan last week...but apparently they didn't even talk about DRS! Go figure.
NYadgal: hi and welcome to the thread! *waves* Norbert is totally adorable. It's so great that he's having a ball in DRS.
Broadway.com posted a photo gallery of the DRS cast recording. These are ADORABLE! I hope this link works, if not, Broadway.com has them (and they're worth looking at lol).

Thanks Alejandra!
The pictures are great, and it's clear this cast really enjoys each other. (BTW-Sherie's baby is adorable.)
Looking forward to getting the cast album when it comes out!

Going back a few posts, does anyone have a link for DRS Abridged?

Those pictures are darling!
BTW, guess who just ordered L5Y! Woo hoo!
Woo, yay, Chrys--no music library is complete without L5Y. :)
Sherie and Kurt's baby is unbelievably cute!
All of the pictures are darling.
The March 14 installment of Broadway Beat has video from DRS opening night. John, Joanna, Gregory and Sara are very gracious, Sherie is hysterical ("can I cuss?" LOL) and Norbert has some great things to say about Jack O'Brien. He says it's the best time he's ever had onstage, being in DRS.
If you want to fast forward, the DRS segment starts at around the 12 minute mark.

Alejandra--What shows have you seen Norbert in? How did you become such a fan?
Hey guys,
wendy: I've only been a Norbert fan since October of last year. A friend got me into Wicked, then L5Y shortly thereafter. I loved him in Wicked dearly but L5Y...it was like a revelation. He's uber talented. Since then I've been taking a "crash course" of sorts on current musical theatre on Broadway, used to only seeing shows on tour (I live in the South). I've never seen/heard Norbert live, having to rely mainly on recordings and *cough*footwear*cough*. I've pretty much caught up on Norbert, through extensive Web surfing/reading, etc. Now I feel like I need to do the same thing with Raul Esparza LOL.
Another thing that's sort of funny, is that although I enjoyed Norbert's L5Y songs when I first heard them, it was really Sherie's songs (esp. Still Hurting and See I'm Smiling) that got me hooked on the entire show. Maybe it's because to me they were more immediately acccessible. Now I absolutely love the entire disc.
chrys: I didn't notice it last night but...I heart your new avatar. :) Are they not the cutest people ever? LOL.
The Broadway Abridged DRS link is on page 22. :)

I think Chrys and I can help with the Raul.
Actually, his website is great. It has absolutely EVERYTHING you could ever want on the guy.

LOL, Emcee! I have certainly rambled on about Mr. Esparza way too much to her...
Thanks Alejandra! I just adore the way he is looking at her in this picture. He's smitten. And of course, she is stunning. I came across the *empty* cd case while I was home and had this desire to hear the Hebrew school song. So, I will hear it soon!
I watched the Broadway Beat video. Everyone was adorable. I think Gregory Jbara is so handsome!
Hey guys *waves*, I'm in an internet cafe in Times Square. I saw DRS last night and it was so much fun! I was so close to the stage, I couldn't believe it. Norbs was exhausted but very sweet and I took a pic with him! Sherie, too!
And I just saw Spamalot! I got one of the last tickets for today's matinee ten minutes before DRS last night. Norbert has no competition! Tim Curry is wonderful but Norbert's performance is far superior!
I just wanted to say hi cuz I missed you guys!
BwayBetty--Where did you sit at DRS? When I saw "Boy from Oz" at the Imperial, I sat in the 3rd or 4th row, which was amazing. Next time I see DRS, I would like to sit that close. (When I saw it recently, I was in row R, not bad, but a different perspective.) I thought the show sounded great, very clear, no matter where you sit.
Two questions: whom in the cast got entrance applause and will you be posting your pictures?

I'm glad that you had fun at DRS betty. I'm dying to see this show again.
Rescuing this thread from languishing on page 2... :)
chrys and emcee, you guys have definitely helped in sharing Raul love and information. His Web site totally rocks! I love reading all the articles.
On the Broadway Beat video, I just loved the way Sherie asked whether she could cuss, and then had this long rambling quote and said, "you can cut that and just say this..." She is so funny!
broadway betty: so glad you had a great time at DRS (but of course)!

He's not Irish. But...Father Peter O'Malley is!
Hi everybody! I'm back at the cafe for a bit while I try to find some info on the Rent location for today cuz I'm going back to the mountains of NY tomorrow. What I failed to mention yesterday was that I'm in love with Sara Ramirez and Christian Borle! They are fantabulos! Hedwig, you're gonna have a great time!
Wendy-I sat in the fourth row in the left orchestra. That was the closest I've ever seen Norbert perform, it was too much! I bought this ticket back in November, I guess that's why it's so close but you can always get lucky with a good seat on the same day. Um...about posting my pics, I wish I could take myself out of them. I made these weird faces and I look like I'm on something. John got entrance applause(of course), I cheered my tuchis off for Norbert(of course) and other fangirls up in the mezz joined me, Sherie got applause from the fangirls and I, Joanna got applause from most.
Before curtain time, I kept looking back cuz I got this crazy idea that the Rent cast, or at least Idina would be there, since they had taht day off but the only person I saw was Dan Rather, yuck!
Oh, and I met David Yazbeck! He was walking out of the satge door and I called him over. He was surprised that I knew who he was. I asked him to take a pic with me and he did! It was very cool. I worship that man, I can't believe that I met him! Some guy was like "Yo, people, that's David Yazbeck, he wrote the music" and everyone cheered.
Gotta go, talk to ya'll tomorrow. I really really miss youz guyz!
Tickets were on sale in November? I guess was only aware the box office opened Dec. 27.
Thanks for the update--I went online for April 3 and 10th tickets and could only get rear mezzanine (that using a discount). I want to see it again, but would rather not pay full price.
Hey everyone,
Happy St. Patrick's Day.. :)
wendy, I sent you a pm.
That's Ken Entertainment (?) has a new episode featuring the DRS opening night. It's not online yet but you can read about it at the link below. On that note, I saw the episode featuring the Wicked opening night, and while the host was VERY annoying (IMO), Norbert was so cute and funny in it. Can't wait to see the DRS segment (eventually).
