Alejandra: are you sick of being thanked so much?! Just wanted to say a big fat THANKS (again) for being our little Norbert Angel and bringing us all such fabulous Norbie-Goodies:)
Hey Chrys: we missed you, too! Big time. =) Can't wait to catch up.
I should have mentioned it earlier, but...John Lithgow was on Regis & Kelly this morning. He's wonderful. He talked about how his career has progressed over the years during the first segment. He said that what he loves about theatre and tv is the audience reaction. On a movie set you are very isolated.
Then after the commercial break they showed a montage of clips from DRS. Regis said that Norbert was a new actor to him (obviously, since Regis called him Norman! LOL) and then John pointed out that Norbert was in Rent and Wicked. John called Norbert "marvelous (?) to work with," talked about how much fun their partnership is, and said Norbert is a "dazzling talent...I call him young b/c he is half my age, which doesn't necessarily make him young." LOL. Regis also mentioned Sherie, calling her "terrific" and said how much he also enjoyed Joanna Gleason. John said that the cast is having a great time and that he expects the show to be around a long while.
He also shared a DRS blooper from San Diego. During a scene where Norbert/Freddy is in the wheelchair and John is pretending to be a Viennese (?) doctor and has to whack him several times--during one performance he noticed Norbert looking white and totally sweating, etc. During audience laughter, Norbert told John that he forgot to put on his protective padding for this scene. So John grabbed a nearby pillow, put it on Norbert and then continued with the scene. Sherie has a line about that seeming cruel, to which John said something like, "it could have been even worse if he had remembered to put on his padding during intermission." LOL! John said the audience had NO idea what was going on but it was funny.
Very good interview. John is a great spokesperson for the show.
It's not too late to join this love thread, is it? Norbert is one of my favorite guys on Broadway (along with Adam Pascal!) but sadly I have yet to see him perform. I'm so excited thought because I'm visiting NYC during my Spring Break with French Club and I actually convinced my advisor to buy tickets to DRS! I can't believe I'll be able to see him perform!
I also got to see John Lithgow on Regis today. I swear I couldn't stop laughing when he mentioned the blooper in San Diego. Poor poor Norbert...lol!
You will love Norbert in this show--he is dazzling! The entire cast is great--enjoy! (Do you have The Last 5 Years? I ordered it to hear more of Norbert and Sheri before I saw DRS and I can't stop listening to it--wished I had seen them perform in it!)
Not technically *back* till Sunday. I did have time to look at the photos from Broadway.com. And wowee! They look fantastic! And ADAM!!! I love his hair, it cracked me up! Glad to hear he is back in the Big Apple for a little while. *sighs*
"What a mystery this world. One day you love them and the next day you want to kill them a thousand times over." The Masked Bandit in THE FALL
I can't believe I missed John Lithgow this AM. No more going to the gym before I check the television listings!
only-the-good: welcome! I'm somewhat new to the thread myself. I think the more the merrier when it comes to Norbert loving! When is your spring break? I am finally making it to NYC for the first time in April. First b-way show will be DRS!
wendy: I just bought The Last Five Years a couple of weeks ago and it is now one of my fave recordings of all time. What is your favorite song from the show?
Right now, my favorite (or at least the song I can't get out of my head) is " The Next Ten Minutes"--so beautiful. But I also love when in "A Miracle Would Happen" Norbert says about marriage "It's what I wanted..." His personality as a performer really comes through on this recording, as does Sherie's.
Hedwig: My spring break is 3/25 to 4/3. We won't be leaving to NYC until 3/28 though. It'll be my second time in the city, my first being this past August. Me and friends (my mom driving) went to NYC for three day JUST to see Aida before it closed and meet Adam. It was such and experience, especially being my fist broadway show and all. That's awesome that DRS will be your first! I'm soooo psyched to see it!
Wendy: Yep, I LOVE the Last 5 Years! It's just so touching and heart-felt. I love The Schmuel Song (just cause of Norb's great Jewish accent!), A Summer In Ohio is priceless, and Goodbye Until Tomorrow is so sad.
that would be amazing if they had a video and pics like they ha dfor little women on broadway.com i would go crazy.I saw it in preveiws and im seeing it again april when i go i cant wait .
"what? what is it? do i have something in my teeth? ok lets get this over with : no im not seasick, yes ive always been green, and no i didnt chew grass as a child "
Ok I'm a lurker...just wanted to say hallo...I saw Norbs in Wicked and just saw him last week in DRS. I brought a picture of him as Roger in RENT for him to sign at the door. Norbs got a great kick out of it and was making fun of how young he looks and how old he looks now. I gots me some funny pictures of him..
FabalaYero85, hi! Please don't lurk. :) I think it's awesome that you got to meet Norbert. And the Rent pic was a great touch. Were you the one who posted on Idina's forum about that? I mentioned it earlier on the thread b/c it was a great story!
Alejandra - that was definetly me on SB...gotta love that...keeping everyone in suspense about the pictures though..I got a shot of him shocked at the Roger picture (curtousey of my mom :) )
Cannot wait for the DRS OBCR to come out...All about Ruprecht and Great Big Stuff are my fav songs :)
