I just got my The Last Five Years CD today.....I hope it's as good as everyone says it is......
I agree with wendy. It may take a bit of getting used to (esp. if you're used to hearing Norbert in a show like Wicked). The liner notes are very helpful. Once you are hooked, it's *enormously* addictive! Norbert and Sherie give amazing performances (you really do feel like they are really acting as they are singing) that are both sad and at times very funny. The show is beyond brilliant. JRB=genius.

Alejandra, How do I create an avatar to post?--I need a picture, too!
Reading the early and decidedly mediocre Spamalot reviews--no standouts among the male leads, IMHO. Let's hope this brings Norbert one step closer to a much-deserved Tony!

Poopie, I forgot to mention...
I LOVE CHRISTIAN BORLE!
hi wendy: what I love love about BWW is that it makes any picture an icon for you. :) That makes it easy.
Along the left side, under Login, click under "your settings" and edit your profile. You should see a link that says "image" and "upload photo". BWW will let you browse your computer files to find a photo saved on your computer that you'd like to use. It automatically resizes pictures and shows you what the picture will look like as a thumbnail. Pretty nifty!

I know this isn't Norbert related, but...is anyone planning to see Light in the Piazza? LOL.

Alejandra-I am planning on seeing it, hopefully in April.

I'm seeing Piazza!
Hi everyone! I've been away for a couple of days, just catching up on all the posts! Thanks for all the advice on what to see on my NY visit. Since Avenue Q is opening in Vegas soon I thought I'd wait to see it there rather than see it on Broadway. Slightly torn about it though...
By the way-I love all the new avatars!!
Broadway Betty: ecstatic to hear Norbert has no competition! Hope the "powers that be" agree!
Oh and Alejandra-initially my 2 favorite songs from TL5Y were "Still Hurting" and "See I'm Smiling" also:)
Right now I'm loving "The Schmuel Song", mostly because I'm a big sap and I love hearing Norbert sing that last line.
(Just wondering ((and asking in very timid voice)) has anyone seen Brooklyn, and is it as bad as they say?)

Oooh, I loved the Broadway Beat video! It has definitely brought me out of my bad mood. Oh, and thanks Alejandra for the DRS abridged page, I need to go read that!
Just wondering, where are you guys getting these awesome Norbert/Sherie pictures for your avatars? They make me smile!
Oh, and one more thing. Do you guys think that DRS will be available in the TKTS line in a few weeks? I know that they've been there, but I'm worried that when I go to NY over break they won't be up! (If only my advisor for the trip didn't wait until the last darn minute to try to get tickets for the show! Of course they're going to be sold out!)
They've been at TKTS...hadn't heard that...TDF,maybe, but that's something altogether different.
The pictures are from the cast recording of DRS on broadway.com.
Hi all,
Happy Friday! I'm watching basketball and taking a break by bumping the thread back up. LOL.

Hey everybody, I'm back from the best 3 days ever! DRS on Tuesday, Spamalot on Wednesday, and Rent set on Thursday. I can't even put into words how great these days have been. I only wish that I could've hung out with Chrys, but I'll see her next week.
Isn't it the damndest thing that my picture with Norbert was the worst of the bunch, but he looks precious! And David Yazbeck looks adorable! And standing next to the gorgeous Sherie Rene Scott doesn't help the self-esteem much, but I'm glad I took them anyway.
There's so much stuff going through my head right now, I can't put any of it into words.
L5Y-If you're on this thread, you must love it! It's a great cast recording, I can't pick just one song. I wish I was into theater when it was Off-Broadway.
BB: I'm glad you had such a great time. How could it not be with that great line-up??!
I'm assuming you met up with Norbert and Sheri at the stage door-is that right? If yes, did you have to wait a long time?
Also, how was the Rent set? Did you get to meet any of the cast?
Okay, sorry so many questions!
And about TL5Y, I agree, it is a truly great recording. It is having a brief run here in SoCal and I am going to try and catch it this weekend. (Of course, won't be the same without Norbert and Sheri though!)

Broadway Betty-are your pictures posted in the fan photos section?
Is his part "better" than Lithgow's part in DRS???? I don't know anything about this musical really....but with the Producers it's easy to see that Max was the better part than Leo....
Also, it might help that Lithgow just won a tony in the category in 2002, and that Norbert is hot of his success in Wicked...
MTVMANN: I haven't seen DRS yet, but from what I hear, Norbert really has a bit more to do than John does. I guess maybe it's a more "showy" role. It really let's him shine and display his talents.
Oh, and I'm interested in hearing what you think of TL5Y recording. Did you get to hear it yet?

I think both John (as Dr. Shuffhausen) and Norbert (as "Buzz") have their opportunity to shine--but I would say Norbert has the role that is more "Max"-like. And he is so confident and charming in it.
Hedwig....I haven't got to listen to it yet because I was going to take Wendy's advice and listen to it all at once, so I was going to wait until Sunday when I have a 6-7 hour drive....also judging by your name, You might like Hedwig and the Angry Inch....I got the Broadway CD of that in the mail at the same time too and plan to listen to it on my drive also....
Wendy, when you compared Norbert's role to Max, I take it you were going on with what I was saying about it being the slightly bigger role....right?
For a moment there, I was thinking isn't Norbert playing a nerdy guy....wouldn't that be more like Leo? But I guess your saying it's the more flashier role...
Yes, his role is only like Max's in that it's broader than John's, played for more laughs, more physical humor. I think they are both "lead" roles, but is seems they have equal stage time.
No, his role is not nerdy, he's a rough-around the edges hustler, a petty grifter. Crude, but as played by Norbert, a charmer.

Thanks Wendy for clearing that up for me! That would've been horrible if I left for NY thinking I could get DRS tickets at TKTS. So, if I were to join TDF, would it be likely that I could get DRS tickets? Have any of guys done this? I just want to make sure before I join this thing that I'll be able to get tickets...
Thanks!
TDF's worth it, anyway, but I have heard of DRS being on it.
Guys... where's thespian geek?
hey emcee: thespian geek is in, or on her way, to D.C. She's planning to see Rent while she's there. :)
