This is one girl who would sreak through her campus naked just to have seen Norbert in Cabaret. So, so sorry I missed that... *kicks self*
I saw him. I can't compare though as his was the only ass I ever saw in CABARET. I remember it vividly though as it was my first experience with nudity in the theatre.
...and then came TAKE ME OUT.
Hi lite2shine! :) I'm so glad you posted and shared that Big River link. I think it's kinda sweet that Ty doesn't realize just how talented he is. I am so happy to hear he's working on films! Last week on the BWW main board, there was a thread about "most expressive voices" and I listed Norbert (of course), Sherie, Idina, Michael Arden (Tom Sawyer!) and Ty. Even though the thread was asking for "singing voices" I still thought Ty deserved a mention b/c I thought he was so amazingly expressive in Big River. And my favorite part of the American Theatre Wing seminar was when Ty was asking the director why Jim was signing with Huck in Worlds Apart. It was so cute!
Back to the wonder that is Norbert: it's so cool that your friend used to room with him, and that you saw him in L5Y. :) I would have *loved* to see him in Cabaret.
On the Idina forum, a fan got a lovely e-mail from Stephanie J. Block. Stephanie said that Norbert was wonderful and "a great guy all around!!" Sweet!

lite2shine--I saw "Big River" while it was on tour in CT--amazing, although I saw Tyrone's replacent who was equally great. And Adam Monley--I would imagine we'll be hearing his name for a long time.
So your friend was Norbs roomie--are we talking college or more recently?
Alejandra925, sorry what I was thinking, yes I saw L5Y but not with Norbie. I love him in the CD though.
Wendy, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Big River. Yes, Adam is amazing and he is so young (and dead gorgeous and talented).
My friend was a roomie with Norbie when they were touring in Cabaret. He spoke highly of Norb too.

It's not sad at all! This is a Norbs love thread--what better place to express yourself and share?!
I guess it's cos I am NOT a youngster & I don't usually go "goofy" about a performer. I have met a large number of famous people in my set nurse work and have never blinked an eye, gushed over them or otherwise embarassed myself to such an extreme. Such is the power of Norb!
sabrelady- Norbert has that affect on everyone(at least everyone on this thread)so don't worry about it! It doesn't matter what age you are, he's simply irresistible!
BUMP
Anyone going to the "Working in the Theatre" seminar on 4/16 with Norbs and Sheri?
The seminar is on the 14th, not the 16th. I wish it was, though. I'd go in a heartbeat! Damn my stupid classes!
Wendy, are you going?
does anyone else find it hilarious that his last name is "butz"?
is it pronounced "butts" or "bootz"?

It's "butts". Although, I think "boots" would sound even funnier!
I wish I could go to the 4/14 seminar.

Oh wow, I about fell out of my chair laughing when I thought of Norb's name being "boots!" Yeah, I've had many of my friends laugh at me when I tell them Norb's name, but they're just jealous they didn't get to meet someone as adorable and irrisistable as him.
I wish I could go to the seminar too, but alas, not only do I have class but I live 10 hours from the city (and that's in good traffic and without getting lost in Jersey!)
I finally had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Boots :) perform (live!) last week. What can I possible say about him that hasn't already been said??? I absolutely loved his performance in DRS and afterward I was fortunate enough to meet him at the stagedoor. He was very sweet (as were Sheri Rene Scott, John Lithgow and the legendary Joanna Gleason!).
DRS was my first Bway show and it happened to be on my very first day in NYC, so all in all it was a pretty perfect day!
Hedwig, you're back! I'm so happy that you finally saw DRS! What a show to start you off with! Did you take a pic with him? What was your favorite scene or song or joke? I'm just so happy for you!
Thanks Broadway Betty! Yes, I did get a picture with him which I absolutely can not post until I figure out how to crop myself right out of it. I look ridiculous! Basically my face is saying, "I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M STANDING NEXT TO NLB AND HIS ARM IS AROUND ME". It's so embarrasing. I'm still shocked at how uncool I was. Oh well. At least I got to meet him!
As for my favorite song/joke/scene. Hmmmm. That's a tough one. At the moment I'd have to go with the whole "Ruprecht" scene. I thought it was hilarious.
How 'bout you-what's your fave?
EDIT: Okay, I thought about it a bit more and I'm changing my favorite to Great Big Stuff. Or Love Is My Legs. Okay, this is too hard. I can't pick just one!

Yay! I am so glad you decided to stage door it afterall, Hedwig!!! "I can't beleive i'm standing next to NLB and his arm is around me." That is the cutest f*ckin' thing ever!!!
Well Chrys, as you know I almost didn't do it! I'm so intimidated by all those talented types. But I am beyond thrilled that it all turned out so well. Except for that wretched picture of course!

I know how you feel Hedwig, cropping myself out of the picture was the first thing I did when I got it back! You are so lucky he put his arm around you! It was all very hurried when I met him because a) it was pouring down rain, and b) he was trying to get home and only stopped for a picture because of the flattering shirts my friends and I made of him. But he couldn't have been sweeter about the whole thing.
So, how were your seats for the show? Were you close enough to see the sweat drip off of Norb's face? 'Cause that's always fun! :)
OTGDY: I thought my seats were great! Orchestra, Row G. I did get to see some Norbie sweat action! He looked sooooo exhausted after the show. I feel bad for his understudy. Imagine having to do what Norb does at a moments notice. Must take a lot of carbs and Red Bull!
Seems all that sweat will pay off around Tony time, as the broadway.com article seems to favor Nobs for the honor. He must be slimming down running around that stage every nite--not that he's not perfect just the way he is!
Hey y'all...
hedwig, it's so cool that you stage doored, especially since you were a little nervous! :) So glad you had a fantabulous time!
only the good...you and your friends made shirts for Norbert?
On All That Chat, someone posted a review of DRS this weekend. Apparently while Norbert and Sherie were in a scene, a "long and loud" cell phone went off. As Norbert was telling a story/saying his lines, he said "I couldn't hear because of a cell phone...." LOL. Joanna Gleason also made jokes about the cell phone guy.
I find this funny b/c Norbert said in an interview that cell phones drive him crazy. :) He did an adlib about cell phones while Wicked was in previews, too.

I'm actually glad Norb said something about the cell phones. The worst is when people don't want anyone to know it is theirs, so they just let it ring and ring. That happen the night I saw Private Lives, and I thought Alan Rickman was going to leap off stage and pound someone. Definately not a man's **** list I would want to be on.
But anyways, back to the topc...What was the topic? Oh yes, Norb. Well, I have poo poo luck, but this Wednesday night I have a ticket to see Chitty Chitty Bang Me, and my afternoon just became available, so I figured I would try my hand at the DRS Lottery. I probably won't win, but I'm hoping my chances at a Wednesday matinee will be greater. Of course, everyone but myself will probably win... I don't think the sexy lotto guy likes me! And I swear, I haven't hit on him...*that* much!
Chrys- I wish I could join you to try and win the DRS lottery but I have such awful luck and I'm stuch in the mountains anyway.
I'm so glad Norbs said something about the cell phone. Why do people leave them on? Does DRS need to have an announcement like the other shows? But if they do, then they have to get rid of the very funny "no announcements" announcement before curtain.
DRS OBCR IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!
And Tony nominations are announced on the same day!
