Chrys- I wish I could join you to try and win the DRS lottery but I have such awful luck and I'm stuch in the mountains anyway.
I'm so glad Norbs said something about the cell phone. Why do people leave them on? Does DRS need to have an announcement like the other shows? But if they do, then they have to get rid of the very funny "no announcements" announcement before curtain.
DRS OBCR IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!
And Tony nominations are announced on the same day!

Did anyone else hear John Lithgow is going to give the commencement speach at Harvard on June 5th? Isn't that Tony night?

Really? Thats awsome!
Sorry for a really random question. Anyone know how tall Norbert is? I was watching the DRS opening night thing on Broadway.com and he is tiny compared to Lithgow (then again John is realllly tall). But Norbert seems a bit shorter than everyone else in the cast as well. Just curious...

My guess is that Norbert is around 5'8. It's funny hearing John talk about their height difference!

#804Finally Met Norbert!
Posted: 4/13/05 at 5:04pmI think John's like 6'4" or something. Norbert looks so small next to him!
#805Finally Met Norbert!
Posted: 4/13/05 at 7:00pmI just read Jeff Goldblum is 6'4"--John and he should be photographed together.
#806Finally Met Norbert!
Posted: 4/13/05 at 9:54pmI think Norb is actually 5ft 9. saw it once somewheres but do not remember where ( yes I am old)

Did anyone go to the seminar today? I wish I could've gone. I was falling asleep in all my classes today wishing I was in the city. If I'd gone, I know Norbs would've perked me right up!
Btw, John Lithgow is freakishly tall.

I hope the American Theatre Wing posts the seminar SOON. I miss Sherie and Norbert!!
I don't think John Lithgow is "freakishly" tall. LOL. He might look that way in relation to Norbert, though. Maybe I've befriended/had crushes on too many basketball players.

#811So what will it take...
Posted: 4/15/05 at 3:00pm..for Norbert to win the Tony? I think everyone regular poster on this thread believes he SHOULD win, but does anyone have insight as to the kind of politics it takes TO WIN? I'm sure the producers and marketing team for DRS have to be strategizing, given his good notices and John obviously wanting his buddy to win--I hope this will happen!
#812So what will it take...
Posted: 4/15/05 at 3:06pmI think Should win is all I know, The politics of TONY are beyond me. I'm going to try for the DRS lottery tonight because I love Norby so much. I just cannot believe how much I love the show and its all Norby, mostly. Its funny especially compared to Fiyerro in Wicked, which was a role I hated until I saw Norbert do it last may. It amazes me how much range he shows in just those two roles, that guy is fabulous I thibk that has to impress at least a few Tony voters.

I completely agree with you smartpenguin. Listening to him on the OBCR of Wicked and then watching him in DRS, it really displays the incredible range this man has. And then when you throw in something else like TL5Y! It really seems like there is nothing he can't do.
Okay, enough gushing for now...

#819So what will it take...
Posted: 4/16/05 at 8:44pmI saw DRS again last night, first row, won the lottery and it was fantastic! Norbert was sensational, if anything better than the first time I saw the show. It's amazing. I love how sometimes he seems to be channeling Steve Martin, like in Great Big Stuff.

Seeing DRS from first row must be amazing. :)
I'm rescuing Norbert, or his thread, at least, from Page 2 oblivion. LOL.

Back to the first page Norbie....
we should start a petition to have sh-k-boom produce an all Norebrt CD!! what types of songs would you like him to do?
#822So what will it take...

Pinky--As far as what songs I'd love for Norbert to record on a CD, I would love for it to have a lot of his own material. Babydoll was an interesting, and ultimately addictive, song. :)
I doubt it would happen, but I would also love for him to sing songs from Rent, like One Song Glory, or Your Eyes--because I hate that a clear, "official" version of Norb singing these songs does not exist. That's so *wrong*.
Solo CDs are always a bit strange. I don't like it when Broadway actors sing covers that, while popular, may sound strange. Like Michael Ball singing R Kelly's I Believe I Could Fly.
I think a solo Norbert effort would not make that mistake, though, and maybe be more like Idina's Here, an expression of the artist using their own writing/vocal talents rather than trying to force something.
OK, I'm rambling now.
Bottom line: He's Norb. He makes anything sound great. He kicks ass.
ETA: Nothing against Michael Ball, btw. He's still my definitive Marius voice. :)

Posted: 4/19/05 at 11:45pmYES! I would love him to sing Rent songs and Cabaret. I went to Coloney hoping that they would have a FNT recording of Cabaret with Norbs but no such luck. He really does need his own solo cd. Well, I need it but whatever!

Now...who loves free stuff?
Dumb question, I know.
But, apparently free copies of the DRS OBCR (a special edition) will be given away. Yay!
I wish I could go to the block party next week and get one signed.
