I found the tv guide channel! Can't wait to see him on the red carpet chatting it up with Joan Rivers. And she has to be nice to him b/c she designed the jewelry for DRS.

In fact, I just came back from seeing The Last Five Years with Kate Shindle and Nicholas Rodriguez. Kate was a great Cathy--very different from our Sherie, but wonderful to watch. Nicholas was very good too (though Norbert was far better).

So, yeah, I'm celebrating theatre in my own way, even here down South! And as I was watching L5Y, I couldn't help thinking about Norbert, so...it's all good. :)

Can't wait to see Norbert...and *ahem* hear a speech.

I'm here too..spent the day at the beach, but taped and caught the end of the CBS Tony on the Aisle Broadcast--for anyone who saw it, did you notice how when they said Hugh Jackman wasn't saying whom he thought would win, they showed a video of Norbs in rehearsal??

I will not be on-line tonight until late (going to a Tony party) but will be with everyone after the Tonys!

YAY!!! Congrats to Norby! We all knew he could do it! I haven't posted in so long, but I had to for this occasion! So who else was so excited for him they almost fell off their chair?

WOO-HOO! NORBERT WON THE TONY!!!

I almost peed my pants I was so happy but why did they cut him off? Such a good speech but we'll never know what the rest was. Oh dear, what a night. I just wished that Spam hadn't won but what a night!

Oh I know! I feel horrible for Yazbek. You know how badly he wanted best musical! And I'd really like to know what Norb was trying to say when they cut his mic. So, did anyone else notice that he called Michelle his best 'friend?'

Highlights...Norb's performance, the way he looked (adorable, nice tie), his funny comments about divine intervention and his dad being the "culprit" for his name, the looks on Sherie and John's faces (in tears) as Norbs was thanking them.


Lowlights...cutting Norbs off...I mean, to quote another musical , who do you have to #$%# to get a break in this town?

And I wouldn't read too much into his calling Michelle his best "friend", Norbs seemed a bit nervous and excited. Now who's going to the show soon?

But he DID mention that he filled him up with happiness he hasn't had in a long time. You don't have to be TOO dense to realize what he really meant there (re: Michelle). His parents are so cute. Thank GOD for TIVO. I was able to rewind and pause and cut out the commercials AND get my laundry done!

I just LOVE the way he glows when he mentions his girls. The "No School Tomorrow" thing cracked me up. I really lost it when they showed Lithgow all teary. I mean, that's an ICON getting all sentimental over the NORBER! That's too cool for words.

I wish SPAM didn't win either, but what can you do.

I watched the tape from the Tonys this morning--Norb's speech, which I thought sounded a little mixed up when he spoke, was really clear upon 2nd viewing, and what he said to John was so lovely.

On another note, did anyone enjoy the "Spamalot" number, "Find your Grail?" I cannot get the song out of my head, and seeing David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Sieber and esp. Tim Curry (sounding alot like FranknFurter during the spoken part of the song--which gave me chills) rock out during this song put a smile on my face.

I'm still undecided on the Spamalot number. I'm a big Monty Python fan from way back, and I'm not sure that the musical route was the way to go with this. The talent in the show and star power behind it is undeniable, but as far as being Tony-Worthy, I don't think so. I'm so happy for Piazza. A new play, a nice story, wonderful music. That's what the Tony's are all about. I loved DRS too, but on a WHOLE, I think Piazza was more Tony worthy than either DRS OR Spam for best musical. But, Norb deserved the award for best actor HANDS DOWN. That man is SO talented.

I personally thought "Spelling Bee's" performance probably showcased that musical the best, then "Spam"..as much as I Love DRS, the number, with all the bleeping came off a bit hurried. "Dirty Rotten Number"..I'm going to have to see the tape, but John seemed like he was barely singing and Norbs had to carry the song himself. And "Piazza"..how could they end the number as Matthew Morrison entered?..I wanted more!

Broadwayboobs--is this a coincidence, or did you buy tickets to see DRS specifically for the 1st performance after the Tonys? Please give a FULL account of the crowd's reaction to Norb!!

Yes Wendy..after seeing DRS the first time on March 11th...I walked out of the theater knowing Norbert had to win this TONY and I wanted to be at his 1st performance after the TONY to celebrate.

Wendy, I agree with you on Spelling Bee. Dan Fogler is just awesome. That and Piazza are the two shows I need to see next. I'd love to do see Wicked, but I've heard the music with Idina, Kristin and Norb so much, I think I'd be disappointed if I saw it now.

Did anyone catch how Norb almost went back to the original lyric in "Great Big Stuff" at the part near the end? The original is "I want some really classy sh*t" and he was about to sing it and then sang "I want some really nice cr*p" I thought it was funny.

BB-you are so smart--we'll have to live thru you..wanted to do the same after the noms were announced, but it's hard for me to get into the city during the week.

animama--I saw the original cast of "Wicked",in fact the first performance after Norbs returned after his injury. Only knew him by name at that point, but was quite impressed with what he did with that role and of course, his vocals. Discovered him further via the Last 5 Years..and now am crazy about him. I agree, I don't know how the new "Wicked" cast could stack up against the original--everyone was great. And Joey Mac replacing Norbs--I did not like that choice.
