DRS took a big hit this past week when John was out. They wen't from 96.8% to 78.8%. An 18% drop without Lithgow is not good for the show. Now he MUST be replaced with a name eventhough Norbert won the Tony.
Honestly, Fogler talks like a rugrat, drags his foot across the floor, and sings with a throat full of flem and gets a Tony b/c it'd be wrong for Piazza to take home so many and make fools of everybody at Spamalot. Can you tell I'm still bitter?

i hope that this new guy replacing matt will be good too. plus, he grew up in a town not too far away from mine! only reason why i'm not seeing it on wednesday is cuz victoria's out. and the week after that, kelli's gonna be out as well. so, i'll make due w/out him, i guess.
and, sorry for sidetracking, but, is there a part in spelling bee where an audience member gets to get up on stage? cuz, my band director said that he got to do that, and he spelled stuff like "cow." i didn't get the details, cuz i had to leave.
anyways, yeah, john IS the name. although, even though i knew who he was right away, most of my friends are like, "who?" and i say, "the guy who was lord farquad in shrek?" "uh..." "the guy from 3rd rock from the sun?" "OH!"
yeah. so, not everybody recognizes the name. but, it WAS pretty cool seeing him in the flesh. i can only imagine what it'd feel like to see both him and norb! lol

The guest spellers at Bee are on stage for most of the show. I'd be terrified to be up there for so long! I think it's 4 audience members who get called up at the begining of the show and they sit with the 6 actors. All of the audience spellers get an easy word at least once and then get hard words one by one. But it's spread out throughout the show and they even participate in some of the numbers and dance. I was terrified that they were going to call my name since they had it from the lotto drawing but thank goodness they left the lotto kids alone.
I got my undies in a knot when Matt's replacement was announced b/c I wanted either Wayne Wilcox or Gavin Creel. But Wayne is doing Trailer Park and I don't know what Gavin is doing but he probably wouldn't want to cut his hair. Matt's replacement doesn't look young enough to play Fabrizio but I really do hope I like him b/c I'd hate to have to stay away from Piazza or not enjoy myself.
Ya'll know how badly I want to see Stokes replace John but he's not a name that tourists would recognize. Ugh. Tourists make me crazy! If you're coming to BROADWAY, why don't you learn a thing or 2 about Broadway stars? The man is brilliant but all that matters is if they know you from a TV show. I'm not bashing John b/c he's great in the role but take Brooke Sheilds for instance. She can't sing! She's been in so many musicals and she can't sing. She was awful in that Wonderful Town performance and yet she gets her own cast recordings for WT and Grease. Some shows don't even get a cast album b/c it costs too much but Brooke gets 2?!

Posted: 8/16/05 at 12:51pmI saw WT twice with Donna Murphy while she was very funny and sang beautifully, there was no way I was going to see it again. Brook might be a good comedian but I don't think there's anything special about her voice. If I'm going to a musical I want to see someone who can sing and Brook's voice is not worthy of being on Broadway. That's just my opinion.

Donna was fabulous but I really didn't enjoy the show that much. The first time was to see why it got such great reviews and the second time was b/c it was a holiday weekend and WT was the only show with available tix. Even Millie had a cancellation line! I was surprised to see Donna in it both times since she missed 100 performances in her run.
newgirl: You are in the minority on this one. Matt is beloved by most on this thread. If I thought that Dan gave a better performance and deserved his win I would admit it but I don't feel that way. Both Matt and Kelli were robbed. And alot of people here know how I felt about Sara after seeing Spam so that's saying alot.

Sara's role in Spamalot is weird b/c she's doesn't have very many lines but she sings in many of the numbers. She and Christian make up for Hank and Steve(who don't sing at all) and DHP(who only sings one song). Her voice is just unbelieveable but she doesn't do much acting.
Not only does Kelli sing her heart out, but her acting is wonderful. She makes you feel her pain. They're both incredibly talented women but there's no doubt in my mind that Kelli deserved to win for her performance.

The DRS producers just changed the lotto. Someone here said they found front row tix for sale in Oct, you were right. The lotto is no longer for the front row. The new lotto is for the sucky partial view boxes. How many seats were in the front row? 28? 26? Well, now there are only 16 or so. I hate money hungry producers!
This is from someone who tried the lotto the other day, yesterday? I don't know. I'm mad!

Besides the couple minutes that Norbert is up in the box, it's still a screwed up deal. A slap in the face to the fans.
I'm sorry, but that pic of you and Matt needs to go in the fanphotos hall of fame.

My mom does this thing where she puts an apology in front of a compliment to me and others who find it hard to accept a compliment. I'm so used to it that it just came out that way. Sorry for the confusion. It's a great picture, I meant nothing else by saying "sorry".

Alot of stage door pics come out like crap but that one with Matt is just perfect. Totally frameworthy. That's why it should go in the fanphotos hall of fame.
Have any of you JRB fans heard Parade? Some have said that they prefer it to L5Y. I'm listening to it now but it hasn't grabbed me yet. L5Y was instant for me but maybe it was easier to embrace the music since Norbert was singing it.

I'm going to listen to Parade a few more times b/f I decide if I like it or not. I didn't think much about Into the Woods the first time I heard it but now I breath it night and day. Who knows, I might come on here in a couple weeks singing it's praises.
I expressed my anger about the new lotto policy on the main board and a few people jumped on me and some other angry fans b/c they feel we should be grateful that there's a lotto at all. It's a different story if they started with the box seats as the lotto but they changed it for whatever reasons. That's why I'm mad.
