Heres the place to come and see who's won and who you thinks gonna win and who is wearing swans this year etc. Feel free to chat and post when someone wins.
I personally don't have access to a TV to watch this year, damn college... So for anyone else in the same situation as me, you can come here for the results. Yay!
I have nothing to contribute to this thread except to say I'm so excited. Oscar Day is like Christmas for me, except I like it much, much more. (Even though I haven't seen the majority of the movies nominated this year.)
I have to figure out my theme food for tonight. I can't think of a good Aviator plate/drink, unless it's Red Bull to keep me awake while watching it, if what people say are true.

A college without TV? You go to a Mormon University?
They don't allow TV's because someone somehow back in the day managed to set fire to the dorms with a TV. Very funny except now they don't allow them. Yet they allow irons, microwaves, etc. Strange I know.
There is one big screen which is being used for "Sunday Movie Night" they're playing Super Troopers. *smacks head*
A guess of mine: Out of "M$B" and "The Aviator", whoever wins best director, the opposite movie will probably win the top award.
As you all know, I'm probably the only one here rooting for "The Aviator".
Hopefully, the voters disagree with you. A quick rundown of my predictions:
Picture - SIDEWAYS
Actor - Foxx
Actress - Benning
S. Actor - Freeman
S. Actress - Blanchett
Director - Eastwood
I actually concur with you on the M$B/Aviator switcheroo (not really switcheroo so much as inconsistency - can you really have a Best Pic without a Best Director? - but it's happened before...
)
You're probably alone on the Aviator though. I can't trash it too much since I haven't seen it, but I could even sit through the trailer. Any ideas for my Aviator theme food?
"Hopefully, the voters disagree with you."
We'll see. Hopefully, it will win more trophies than "GONY".

Munk, is that who you want to win or who you think will win?

Tiff: microwave something? Instant potatoes? No idea... what are your other themed foods?
I found this... Oscar themes (warning: kind of lame)
I didn't mean that to say "your opinion sucks," I just meant that I hate THE AVIATOR, it's terrible - so I'm hoping the voters didn't fall in love with it either.
The Aviator was good, but I have a feeling it'll be Million Dollar Baby. Plus, I'm sure the Academy feels pressured to give something to Scorcese, so that way he can get Best Director while M$B gets Best Pic.
I think SIDEWAYS is gonna upset. Or maybe I just love the movie a bit too much. Saw it for the fifth time yesterday.
munk-
No, no. I didn't take it that way. However, it did get 11 nominations, and will hopefully win some.
I think they're gonna reallly spread it out this year. Picture will be Aviator, Director will be Eastwood (make up for Mystic River last year) and Screenplay will be Sideways and Eternal Sunshine.
Also I think they're gonna give best Actress to Kate Winslet, and completely surrpise everyone. I don't think they want to give it to Swank again and somehow I don't think they'll give it to Bening either.
yeah, I hope Kate Winselt wins for Best Actress.
I am certain that at least one person is gonna open the envelope and say "Lord of the Rings" to be funny. Bet yea a million bucks that thats gonna happen.
I miss Lord of the Rings
But year year will be fun because nothing is set.
I can't wait for this! Please roll around 6 o'clock PLEASE
mef: That's who I THINK is going to win.
I can't decide whether I want Imelda or Annette...this is really a tough year. Do you get the New York Times magazine on sunday with the glorious black and white portraits in them? Imelda Staunton looks gorgeous. Hillary Swank's is stunning.
If it were up to me, I would vote for:
Picture: Finding Neverland
Actor: Don Cheadle
Actress: Annette Benning
S. Actor: Clive Owen
S. Actress: Laura Linney or NAtalie Portman
Director: Eastwood
I don't know why FINDING NEVERLAND makes me so happy.
My choices also change daily...
I feel that Bening wholeheartedly deserves this one. As with Winslet's character, Julia is really unlikable and it is a testament to Bening's talent that I stuck with her until the end. While Swank is the frontrunner, I just can't imagine the AMPAS voting for Swank over Bening a second time. Still, it probably will happen.
oh my god, I completely forgot about Don Cheadle! Since Johnny isn't winning, Don should!
Oscars=The Gay Superbowl.
Personally, I'm hoping for a huge write-in victory for Farenheit 911.
PS-speaking of Farenheit 911, George Bush won the razzie for worst performance by a an actor in a leading role and Donald Rumsfeld won for worst perormance by an actor in a supporting role. LOVE IT!
Albin- gay superbowl??
was Farenheit 911 nominated for anything?
Yeah, Gay Superbowl...an all-day affair i.e. 6 "pre-game" show on E!.
Farenheit 911 receive no nominations. It probably would have been nominated for and won documentary feature but it was not submitted for consideration for that award. Michael Moore went for the whole enchilada by submitting for best picture.
