The NHL has replaced their annual All-Star game with three game tournament involving four countries (US, Canda, Finland, Sweden). Last night the US played Canada in Game Two in Montreal. The Canadian crowd disgraced themselves by loudly booing during the US national anthem. (BTW - Trudeau was at the game). The public address announcer had the class to admonish the crowd and try to get them to stop. The NHL commissioner was in attendance and not very happy at the boorish behavior of the crowd. The disrespect of the American players and the US at a sporting event was awful. Fine, sing your country's national anthem with pride. No problem with cheering your own players but this nonsense did not belong at sporting event among countries.
Three seconds into the game several fights broke out because the American players were not "having it" with the crowd disrespect. Even better was the US won the game 3-1 and that shut the crowd up. Hate to tell Canadians but American players are better at their national past time than them -lol.
On this board, Trump will somehow be blamed and of course the American players will probably be labeled scum. This board finds so many faults with the US but turns blind eye to faults of other countries. For fun, let's play role reversal and imagine this same game being played in Madison Square Garden in New York. Then imagine the crowd booing loudly while the song "Oh Canada" is being played and will not stop. I can only imagine the snarky comments about the "MAGA crowd" that would be said on BWW.

I guess one person's "disgrace" is another person's "distinguish."
I don't attend many live sporting events, but I've always thought it was absolutely riduculous that we always have to begin with some stupid nationalistic ritual. Thanks for passing along this Canadian idea for the next time I'm subjected to that.

If you are fine with American crowd booing "Oh Canada" at future NHL games, then I am good with that -lol.

I may surprise you and say I don't think we need to play our national anthem at sporting events or something like "God Bless America" at games. I do understand it a bit when it is sporting event with countries facing other countries like in the Olympics.
P.S. - I sent you a PM a while ago that you never responded to or even read - oh well.

"Fights breaking out at a hockey game is the opposite of news: it's not as if the other teams refused to play against Americans, or dropped their gear to brawl with the Americans and make no pretense at playing the game."
It does make news if several fights break out as soon as the puck was dropped at the beginning of the game. It does make news if two of the American players state that the team was upset about our anthem being booed.
Dumpster is threatening Canada to turn it into our 51st state. Canadians have been polled about this and the majority do not want it. He threatened Canada with 25% tariffs, which could derail both economies. It's not that difficult to understand why they're booing the US Anthem.

Please enlighten everyone how the US is going to make Canada our 51rst state against the will of the Canadian people - OMG. Are we going to go to war with them and take over the country? -lmao. Trump loves "screwing" with people and they fall for this type of nonsense. Trump paused the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for 30 days after they pledged to boost border enforcement. In other words, the tariffs may never happen.
Now for the booing. This is an international sporting competition, and you check your political views at the door. You stand politely and respectfully while the anthem of another country is played. When the anthem of your country is played then fill free to sing along with pride. I am willing to bet if American people started booing "Oh Canada" at sporting event you and others would be saying how awful it is and what morons these MAGA nuts are.

“If people wanted to play the game right, it would be 100% certain that they’d become a state,” Trump said recently.
Canada at first reacted as though Trump must be joking, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said flatly his country would never be the 51st state. Trudeau more recently suggested behind closed doors that Trump’s sustained annexation calls may not be just light talk and appear to be “a real thing.”
Dumpster has actually called Trudeau asking Canada to become the 51st state. it's more than likely not happening, but your friend, DT, wants it to happen.

"Whether or not they ever be put into place, the damage is done," said Greig Mordue, a former auto industry executive and associate professor at the W. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology at McMaster University.
He says Trump's threats have already changed the landscape. Whether he goes ahead with the tariffs or not, or whether he carves out specific exemptions, the threat alone will drive investment out of Canada and into the U.S.

This link you provided points out the huge hurdles it would take for this to happen. It will never happen and a waste of time talking about it.
"He says Trump's threats have already changed the landscape. Whether he goes ahead with the tariffs or not, or whether he carves out specific exemptions, the threat alone will drive investment out of Canada and into the U.S."
All countries charge tariffs and that is how the economic game is played today. Whether we like it or not, it is reality.
So why doesn't Dumpster stop insinuating that Canada becoming the 51st is going to happen? Why is nobody telling him to shut up? Everyone on his cabinet this term puts him on a pedestal and only agrees with him. Same thing with buying Greenland or turning Gaza is a resort area and kicking out 1 million Palestinians.
Breaking News!
At a recent sporting event, there were boos from the crowd, which is a common occurrence in such settings. One side won, another lost.
In other news, NPR reports that approximately 300 employees from the National Nuclear Security Administration—which oversees the U.S. nuclear weapons program—are being laid off.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has dismissed over 1,000 employees.
The U.S. Forest Service is terminating around 3,400 hires, while the National Park Service is letting go of approximately 1,000 workers.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), the world’s largest funder of biomedical research, announced on February 7 that it will significantly reduce “indirect expenses” in research grant funding. This cut affects multiple areas, including pediatric cancer research. These workforce reductions and funding changes reflect broader shifts in government priorities and spending policies.
The reduction in FEMA funding has had a significant impact on Kentucky, particularly in the aftermath of severe storms and flooding. With fewer resources available for disaster relief, affected communities are facing delays in rebuilding efforts, limited access to emergency housing, and reduced financial assistance for displaced residents. Many local governments, already stretched thin, are struggling to cover the costs of debris removal, infrastructure repairs, and public safety measures. Without adequate federal support, residents are left relying on state and local resources, which may not be sufficient to address the scale of the damage. The funding cuts also threaten long-term recovery efforts, leaving vulnerable communities at greater risk for future disasters.
But don’t worry Zeppie’s got his finger on the pulse of what really matters.

You really are clueless fool. First, the OT section is for anything you feel like posting. Nobody said it had to be some important event about our country or the world. It may be common to hear boos from the crowd at an opponent during the game. It is not common for boos to be heard before the game while the national anthem of another nation is being played. Whether you think it was important or not, it was international story. Go back to your cut and pasting of liberal websites -lol

Ok, you want something about things that matter. See below from a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe you would like to discuss the signing of the Laken Riley Act.
https://apnews.com/article/what-is-laken-riley-act-trump-immigration-2667d626139ddf5a16d1533516eab18f
Alright, Zeppie, here are my and direct and clear answers on these.
You brought up the credit card interest cap—that’s still just a proposal, so let me know if it actually passes, and we can revisit it.
On trans athletes, I won’t debate you on trans issues, but I will always maintain that trans people are people first. When they are excluded from sports, it often leads to broader policing of women’s bodies. A good example is what happened at the Olympics this summer—months later, and Imane Khelifi was confirmed to be a woman.
Now, regarding the Laken Riley Act, I understand why some people support it, but laws like this can have unintended consequences, such as racial profiling, wrongful detentions, and over-policing. Historically, expanding deportation powers doesn’t always just target serious criminals—it often affects long-term residents and people with minor infractions as well. It’s important to consider the broader implications before assuming it’s a perfect solution.
Since I’ve responded to your three points, here’s one for you: Do you support Trump pressuring Romania to lift travel restrictions for Andrew Tate while he faces charges for human trafficking, sexual misconduct, and organized crime? His administration advocated for the return of the Tates’ passports so they could travel while awaiting trial.
Do you think that was the right move?

Zeppie and most MAGAs are quiet about Elon Musk's role in this Presidency. Is he really calling the shots? Why does he need $400 million for more Cyber trucks? Why is Musk making the decisions on what departments and jobs get terminated?

Congrats to Team Canada for their 3-2 win over US in OT to win the tournament. Although there was slight booing of Canadian national anthem at game, it was nowhere near the level of the Canadian audience (still wrong). The tournament had some excellent hockey and was a success which is a good thing.
While you were enjoying your bread and circus hockey game, this was going down on Capitol Hill. Cuts to the federal program aiding 9/11 first responders were reversed after bipartisan pushback. Initially, 20% of the staff overseeing the World Trade Center Health Program were either fired or took buyouts as part of budget cuts under the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.
After backlash from both parties—including Schumer, Gillibrand, and several House Republicans—the White House confirmed that staffing and research grants for 9/11-related illnesses would not be affected.
still haven’t managed to give me a yes, or no answer to my question about pressuring the Romanian government around Andrew Tate… Really simple yes or no.
In general, you'll never hear any magas admit they're wrong about anything, they're too stupid to realize it. That person will never respond to you about all your valid points, especially about a serial Rapist. You got him and everyone knows it 😂
Cowards run away and they allll have that in common. Trust. Engaging with that person and trying to talk with someone who doesn't have the capacity for complex thought is a giant waste of your time. You still rock, Lavie ❤️

"Hey Zeppie it's been three days... Do you support Trump pressuring Romania to lift travel restrictions for Andrew Tate while he faces charges for human trafficking, sexual misconduct, and organized crime?"
First, I don't live on BWW and I can't respond to everything thrown at me on these posts. All of you liberal's "gang" up (lol) and start picking on every issue imaginable. I will admit when I don't know something about an issue, and this is one of them. On the face of it assuming Mr. Tate is guilty my answer would be no. FYI - I am preparing to be out of town so I am not ignoring anyone just going about life.

Boy, I have some nerve enjoying a hockey game while serious matters are going on - OMG.

Trans people deserve the right to compete in sports. People like Caitlin Jenner and Martina Navratilova had suggested an "open" category set up to where anyone can compete. May not be the perfect answer but it is a start to try and let trans people play sports and compete fairly.

Very simple answer. We have no idea how much influence Musk has in Trump administration. He is basically an advisor; we will see in the future. My goodness, Trump has been in office about 30 days, how about we all wait until maybe he is in office 6 months and then let's do a nice review.

I just responded to "Lavie" on a couple of points (including Romania) and "ACL" about Musk. I don't run away from any of you even though I am greatly outnumbered. Your problem like many others is you think if you are not really liberal you love everything about Trump and that is far from the truth. I may not have the capacity for complex thought according to you, but I don't send vile/disgusting PMs to other posters and lie about another person with a serious charge. Just curious, have you shared that info with "Lavie" -lol.
Lavieboheme, that is how you get someone back to a thread he's been pretending to ignore for 5 days. Just like his Bestie Trump, he always takes the bait. It's absolutely hilarious and works....every time.
Just know you got him, you're smarter than he will ever be, and engaging with an ignorant, deaf person is a waste of your precious energy. Be Well.
The Nazi salute happened three times at this week's CPAC convention. Steve Bannon goes on to say anyone who's anti-Israel and anti-Jew won't last much longer in this country. There's a lot of sh!t hitting the fan and most of it is a distraction.

Please stop, you are being pathetic. I don't live to post on BWW and your claim that I was ignoring those posts is absurd and you have no idea what I am doing or thinking. Your new "buddy/hero" was the one that really took the thread off topic by mentioning a whole lot more than reaction to our national anthem at a hockey game. Some of those things have nothing to do with Canada. Once again, you try to lump me and others of being "besties" of Trump. Do some research and you will find I have called him a "scumbag", hated his juvenile name calling, said he was wrong to hold a "rally" on Jan 6th and think his blather about making Canada the 51rst state stupid and absurd. Let me add his fixation with renaming things is also very lame. His treatment of VP Pence on and after Jan 6th was horrible. There is more but even you should get the point.
. Just know you got him, you're smarter than he will ever be, and engaging with an ignorant, deaf person is a waste of your precious energy. Be Well.
Thanks, for being so insensitive to bring up my hearing loss that I have dealt with for many years. Ever notice that your friend never seems to actually post on the main purpose of this board. I have never seen his/her opinion on Broadway shows and that tells me they are IMO a troll. There are plenty of other places that focus on politics where you can "chat" and share opinions. I have never said I am smarter than anyone on this board. Unlike most liberals, I may disagree with your point of view but never call you stupid. Your friend engages in anything I write so if is a waste of energy engaging with me it is his/her fault.
Ok Sutton. I think it is about time for you to formally apologize for your remarks and accusations against Jay Lerner-Z and myself in PM (you know I have the written proof). Show us by example you can admit you were wrong and what you said was despicable. You have just "ranted" that I did not respond in 5 days to a post, yet you never have owned up to your behavior when I have mentioned it in posts. You once again ignored it only a few hours ago. Prove me wrong Sutton and apologize in public.
I am leaving tomorrow to go out of town on vacation, so I will not be on this board for a while. Just saying this so some of you don't get "upset" (lmao) that I have not answered one of your many questions.
