No, papa, it's more like anytime a play or film, etc. doesn't show you something that could never live up to the hype and is often more fantastic in the audience's imagination.
The only example coming to mind is in Pulp Fiction--we never see what's so important in that briefcase. There are better examples-- usually of a "great song" or "hilarious joke" or "brilliant piece of art".
the difference i see, though, jerbster, is that this show is about television and this is a skit that no one in power save for 9 yards chick, friends guy and west wing guy wants on the air and in the real world the show abides those views by not showing it. i'm not saying it's wrong not to show it, and i understand the pitfalls of it not living up to the hype, but i just find it curious that the skit that they cannot show doesn't actually get shown. and as far as the hype goes, the first 40 minutes of last night's show was about finding an opening but they managed to show that even though they knew it might fall flat. i actually questioned whether they would or not for the same reasons.
Well, I hope they show "CC" next week. It may be that they show it in flashback in contrast with the results.

I've read they're not planning on showing it. Not for any particular reason other than it's about putting up the show, not the show itself.
It's like Sports Night. How much did we see of Dan and Casey on camera? A lot, but not overkill.
Showing CC would be overkill....like the Ugly Naked Guy on Friends.
I'm guessing there will be alot of fallout from the airing, and the sketch will be alluded to, including lines, and references, but never shown all the way through.
better left up to the imagination.
I did not expect to see it. I hope we don't see it. It's best to leave it to the imagination.

Okay I don't even usually notice things like this and I have absolutely zero vocabulary for fashion, but can I just say how much I love that they keep putting Amanda Peet in Lucy Ricardo dresses? Can I?
how do you notice that? i mean seriously...

Well, because they come sorta straight down the torso and then sort of flare out just like Lucy's smart cocktail dresses. I don't know what they're called. Better fags than me, help me out here.
Anyway, it reminds me of Lucy in all the right ways.
wait. you're gay?

Yes, Mr. Designated Opposition. And I don't care WHO knows.
i'm so totally gonna call you ms. namo from now on 'cuz it's like totally witty! *note to self - blog about this brilliant idea.*
Wow namo. I had not noticed... you must be really gay.
Ok... so you may lynch me... which one of the ladies is Amanda Peet?

The droll boss lady in the Lucy Ricardo dresses!
Love,
The Bloggable Ms. Namo
I was happy when I saw that Bravo is re-airing the episodes, but after catching an episode last night I found the show kind of boring and having a similar rhythm to The West Wing (gee, I wonder why?).
Oops, double post.

Hmm, well, I guess the show is supposed to be about SNL, so recycling it's old bits makes sense.....as they say, originally aired 1/25195
Don Pardo: Ladies and gentlemen.. David Hyde Pierce!
[ David Hyde Pierce enters Home Base dressed somewhat uncomfortably as the very model of a modern major general ]
David Hyde Pierce: Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. [ turns to the band ] Maestro!

David Hyde Pierce: [ singing ]
"Oh, David Hyde Pierce is my name, it's great to be here in New York
I'm on Kelsey Grammer's show, I play his brother, who's a dork.
I'm hosting Saturday Night Live, I'm nervous, I've got shaky knees
I love the show, although I haven't watched it since the seventies."

David Hyde Pierce: [ singing ]
"I love Kelsey like a brother, even though he is my boss
I was just deslighted when he won the Emmy and I lost.
Oh, Kelsey is our show's big star, I'm number two, that's only fair
'Cause he deserves it, even though I'm young and thin and have more hair."

This brilliant song was their idea, now I look like an idiot.
This really is embarrassing, I'm mortified, I want to flee
And everytime I sing a line, they sing it back annoyingly."

Watch Amanda Peet's wardrobe in future weeks - she's pregnant.
Still loving it!
Everybody catch that little scene where Amanda Peet's character takes a glass of champagne and then seems to conciously not drink it? Think it's part of a set up to introduce her pregnancy into the story line???
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/22/03
I think it might be about her character not wanting to be pictured drinking the week her DUI arrest from eight years before became public.
That's true too Namo....
I'm just curious to see how they work her pregnancy into the show. Latest pictures of her show her to be very pregnant...not something that you could easily hide.
I just hope they don't deal with it with lots of "fat" references like they did on Will and Grace...that was just stupid!
I guess I was thinking that her pregnancy could just be another thing she didn't tell them about when she took the job......

Yeah I thought it was the DUI thing too.
I LOVED this week. Every week I get more and more impressed with the writing.
"Idiot boys!"
"She's talking about us." "Yeah."
Hilarious!
I don't get the popularity. Too much too fast. I will keep trying, because most "new" tv shows suck lately. Yes, I said suck.
It has filled my West Wing void quite nicely. :)
