Eeesh. 30 Rock just isn't funny at all.
agreed. and since i had alreay committed to watching "jericho" i don't even think i'm going to bother downloading "30 rock" anymore. any appeal alec baldwin has is completely cancelled out by tracy morgan.
How do people not like this show?
This weeks episode was perfect, I loved every single second of it
I LOVED tonight's episode.
I loved it enough that I'm planning to watch it again online later this week.
I've gotten one of my roommates addicted to it as well.
Anybody else planning to watch D.L. on Leno?

It's good. And tonight's episode was good. But the cost (high) versus the benefit (tepid ratings) for NBC will be its undoing.
I thought tonight was good, but not outstanding. I was working while it was on, so I am rewatching it now. I will be sad when the show is no longer. How big did The West Wing open?

Let's face it:
Studio 60 was better when it first came out.
i'm not happy either that nbc is testing friday night lights in studio 60's timeslot next week. not happy.
studio 60 deserves better treatment

I thought last night's episode was pretty good, and it was nice to have an episode with an overall lighter tone.
the only thing i didn't like last night was the obviousness of the eli wallach character and his split second transformation from incoherence to grand old sage. although, it's always good to see the ugly onscreen.

I also could have lived without what's his names walking tour of the studio. I suppose it was give the audience some sort of perspective on the history of the the show, but I found my eyes rolling in the back of my head after a while.
I will say that I've never found Amanda Peet more likeable than I do on this show.
Last night was the first time I found the show preachy and overstuffy. (It was preachy before, but it always felt supported).
However, I was very moved at the end by all the storylines and hold faith that the show will go somewhere worthwhile.
yeah, i kept hoping something was going to happen on the walking tour but i guess the high point was the father's angry afghanistan explosion. seemed weird, but then i bet a lot of performers have of relationships with their parents especially those from the midwest and the south.

The problem with the walking tour was that we have no background for these characters, so who cares about them? The parents should have been played by Carol Burnett and Tim Conway. Then it would have been fun to watch. The father exploding over Afghanistan came out of nowhere and made him look like he's senile. And the father not knowing about Abbott & Costello was completely unbelievable. The walking tour was wasted time because it didn't lead to anything nor promise anything for the future.
While I liked the Eli Wallach character, it was stupid to make him incoherent, then all of a sudden lucid. They should have written him in as the janitor that mops the stage every night and allowed the characters to gradually discover who he really was.
I felt that the walking tour, although a little too long, was a good choice. It set up Eli's character and the early days of Studio 60. It showed Tom desperately trying to prove himself to his parents, and show that what he was doing was part of this legacy. It also showed how far apart Tom has grown from his family, as they didn't have a clue about what he was explaining, and his father really didn't care.
Goth, you are right. That could have worked perfectly. He could have gotten in trouble for taking the picture off the wall and then all would be revealed.
I found the storylines very forced last night. It was more of a group of unrelated things that they just threw into one script. The "little brother in afghanistan" line came out of nowhere. And if that relationship is so bad, why did the parents even bother coming?
While I liked the baseball boyfriend getting exposed, it all seemed like a set up to make Harry and Jordan friends. I guess they need more of a reson for Jordan to be on the set. And the "writing to impress her" is being run into the ground. They can't make Harry and Matt be the center storyline of the show.
Matt and Simon leaving the cast party to go see a comic seemed pretty unbelievable. And then Matt throwing an ear to the guy bombing on stage and then hiring him was just silly.
Eh, I was disappointed last night. Still love it, though.
see i had no trouble with the comic bit. i mean given what we know of matt, the material the comic was throwing out was right up his alley: smart. the sense of comedy was there, but the timing and the follow-thru was off. i actually really liked the back and forth between matt and simon leading up to the trip to the club and the scene at the bar even if dl will always sound like a whiny 13 year old to me. i get the sense that aaron's still feeling his way thru and trying to get these characters stories out of the way and things will be a bit haphazard until he does. and jordan's a gomer. she's the golden child, but she's a gomer, and i think that's what he's trying to show.

I don't think leaving the wrap party to go hear a comic was so unbelieveable. I mean, they have a party after EVERY SHOW. Simon's been doing the show for several years. Can you imagine being in a Broadway show for several years and having a big cast party every single Saturday night?
Well, true. But it was the first time they had had the party at the studio in years.
I was watching Def Comedy Jam last night and D.L. Hughley was one of the comics. I found it ironic that half of his act consisted of him speaking in a "white person" voice and talking about blacks and whites handle situations differently.
What's a gomer?

Gomer = socially awkward, a la Gomer Pyle.

I liked this episode more than previous ones. Though I did think the walking tour got a little long. Plus having Lauren Graham in the episode, albeit for only a minute, is always a plus.
