Did anyone else watch it Monday? It's one of the best TV pilots I've ever seen! I don't think I've seen one that confident and that sure of what it wanted to do since Arrested Development's pilot back in 2003.
Hopefully, this will catch on and become huge.
This actually makes Sports Night look like dog ****.
We've got Aaron Sorkin to thank for that. As creator of The West Wing, he is truly one of the finest in the business.
Cruel, this is at least the fourth thread on Studio 60.

I guess it does need an official appreciation thread, but you ca see everyone's comments there.
So, can we make this the official thread or what?
I love love love this show.
I enjoyed tonight much more than last week.
Aaron Sorkin is a genius. Again

I'm already addicted to this show. I LOVE it. The writing is just brilliant. And I love that Matthew Perry doesn't have to be in a hilarious role- he can be do drama. I love love love it.

Was I the only one getting a Pirate of Penzance vibe from the musical number?

I liked this episode much more than last week's, even though I could do with a few fewer meaningful glances. And, could they have possibly kissed Saturday Night Live's ass any more baldly after all the digs in the pilot episode?
Of course you got a Pirates of Penzance vibe--they were doing a direct parody of "Modern Major General."
That said, I am LOVING this show. I've never watched an Aaron Sorkin show before and I find the dialogue very refreshing. It seems to sparkle with wit; you don't see that very often on television.
Plus the Friends nut in me is beyond pleased to see Matthew Perry back in prime time. Chandler was always my favorite friend, and it's great to see Matt's particular brand of dry wit back on the air. The man can deliver sarcasm like no one else.

Thanks Kitzarina, I couldn't put my finger on it and it was driving me nuts.
I loved this episode, especially the musical number! I'm so excited about this show.
I really love that musical number at the end. No joke, I can't get it outta my head!
Please, someone....tell me there will be some sort of TV soundtrack for this show. If Grey's Anatomy gets one, this one HAS to.
Ok... just started here, first commercial break. BUT what the hell happened to Steven Weber's face? It looks like he got into a fight with an iron...

So I'm the only one who thought it a bit ironic that they wanted to be "Cutting edge" and "Define what is hip" and so they sang a 100 year old song?
And I wonder what the budget for this show is that they could afford an extra orchestra and an opera chorus....

Is this show being put online anywhere? I know this season a lot of shows are releasing their episodes on iTunes or their websites. I am in rehearsals for a production right now, so I am missing basically all the new shows. And I don't have tivo or DVR (hell, I don't even have cable) and my VCR can't keep up with the demand, besides I don't own that many VHS tapes. I am trying to catch episodes of new shows online whenver possible so I can figure out what I am going to be faithful to once my rehearsal schedule calms down.
am i the only one here who feels cheated that we probably won't in the end actually see the "crazy christians" sketch about which so much of the show has revolved?

Joe - they made a point of saying "Who wrote the best Frat Boy humor ever? W.S. Gilbert!" In other words, by doing a 100 year old song, they were being more "hip" than ever.
I am so hooked. And that Matt Perry gets sexier with age.

Papa I realized that after the show ended! Personally, I don't think Crazy Christians are very funny, so I'm curious how funny it really was!
Oh and Colleeen, I believe they said the NBC website has the entire show online.
I'm glad to hear about downloading... I'm going to have to download the first one, and next week's.
Unless Sorkin has a brilliant sketch written for "Crazy Christians", I don't think they should show it. I do hope the sketch was done that night so that we get to see the aftermath--which I believe the scenes from next week alluded to.
Love this show!
just seems ironic that this sketch that's causing so much trouble never actually gets on the actual air. i mean yeah, they say it was in the show and we may see the aftermath, but by not showing it, aren't they kinda doing the same thing they rail against on the show?
