Posted: 7/8/12 at 2:42pmI think just "Madonna" on a wrapped condom would get to her.

The Ice queen thing is the persona
It's the one she chose and it's a terrible one at that. She wants people to talk about her and so, people are talking about her.
*Kathy Griffin slow clap*

Posted: 7/9/12 at 12:20pmWell, she's not the first successful a**hole in the industry. I just don't consider it as much an admirable trait as most of her fans do. "OMG, Madonna's such a diva bitch! LOVE HER!" I think her back catalogue has served her better than her persona. Hence the desperate attempt to "reinvent" Like a Virgin.

Why do you call her an A hole?
I think just the opposite. Career-wise=brilliant. Whether you like her or not.

Posted: 7/9/12 at 12:44pmI'm just saying she behaves like one quite often when the cameras are on. If she's kind and warm in her private life, I don't know why she likes being known as a diva bitch in public. It's not like she's known for her warmth and yeah, some comes across as an a**hole sometimes.

Posted: 7/9/12 at 1:16pmIt's all the haters who seem to think she is bitch, she has often come across very warm and funny in interviews. She also has a very dry sense of humour. I can remember a lot of my US friends thinking she acted like a total bitch on Graham Norton, however in the UK we just saw it as a very dry and British sense of humour. She can play the ice queen sometimes but so what? She may not be sugar and sweet (and utterly fake) as Gaga for example but i don't think that makes her a bitch.

"It's all the haters who seem to think she is bitch..."
That's a classic chicken or the egg set-up right there.

It's all the haters who seem to think she is bitch
Not if you read the comments from her fans. They gleefully call her a bitch like it's a badge of honor and always go on about how she's earned the right to be a bitch. I think the fans call her the b-word more than any haters. They just think it's a compliment.

I never would describe her as warm and fuzzy, neither would I describe myself that way, lol!
To me, she's a regular kind of gal who likes to laugh and have fun a lot. If she says something bitchy, she'll laugh at herself.
Whatever her stage persona is, it's working for her.

For a diva bitch, Madonna's got nothing on Betty.

"Whatever her stage persona is, it's working for her."
Except she can't sell a record to save her life.

If we could just have a chart of when we're discussing the past and when we're discussing the present, it would be very helpful.

Posted: 7/9/12 at 3:25pmI think a lot of things that used to serve her well are no longer serving her well. And the expert businesswoman/master media manipulator praise all seems like it really only applies in the past tense.

Posted: 7/9/12 at 3:46pmI have no way of knowing exactly how her career/finances are going these days, except for what you post, and that's strictly hearsay.

Oh Namo, for someone who always talks about other people bringing up her sales or charting etc you kinda seem to like to do it yourself.
And since you have, the album is set to sell around 2 million by the end of the year, except Adele that is pretty much the same as every other artist this year so far (or more) and she is someone who is 53 and gets no radio play anymore. I would say that is not bad going at all.

This thread is fun. Madonna should write a song about it. Or sing a song about it written by someone else who's got their finger on the pulse of the music industry.

"the album is set to sell around 2 million by the end of the year"
Oh, is it now? It's set to sell that? By the end of the year? Then it must be true. I mean if it's set to do that.
Fact is, if she were such a smart businesswoman and expert media manipulator and mistress of reinvention, she would have created something that radio had no choice but to play. But she didn't. The only thing she's capable of manipulating at this point, is people like you.
