Soozie, you are quite possibly my favorite person in the world!

yes i went to OCU and i thought it was amazing! and i have not ever gone to StageDoor Manor--so obviously i am not fit to sit here and BASH it! how silly would it be if i sat here and bashed SDM when i have never attended (when in actuallity i have friends who have gone, and those friends learned a lot and are incredible and NOT AT ALL snobby)

so i stand by what Dr. H (as we called him at camp) said, "there is no such thing as the BEST camp" or school for that matter. so please stop making someone feel stupid or inferior just b/c they enjoyed something that YOUR FRIEND did not

Triplethreat, thank you for your kind and mature post. I hope others can see that I am not here to simply support SDM posters (I only observe one other, jg) but am supporting several who have attended OCU and even its director!

I am glad you had an amazing time at OCU. I have heard that from several who have attended in the past. Having two college age children myself who have LOVED their summer programs and now LOVE their colleges, I can't think of anything better for a parent or student, to have found the right fit of a program or college where they thrive and are just very very happy. I'm am grateful for that with my own kids and with kids like YOU who have found the same even if you did not attend where my kids have gone. I have never felt a need to call my kids' summer programs or colleges the "best." I don't even feel that is true. I think they have found environments and programs that have turned out fortunately to be the best for them but may not be for someone else.

I wish you well at BOCO. I have visited there twice as my daughter was accepted to that program and liked it. Alas, she could attend only one, LOL. I know many who attend BOCO, who actually went to Stagedoor. Have the BEST time! I went to college and graduate school in Boston and it is such a fun place to be for that time in one's life.

thank you Soozie! i am very excited! but you are completely correct. no one should ever say that something is the BEST. I learned so much the three weeks that i went to OCU and when i had to choose between colleges, i had many choices but it was really between BoCo and OCU and it was THE HARDEST decision in my entire life. both schools are great. and like you said, im not going to sit here and say BOCO is better JUST CAUSE IM GOING THERE, that would be stupid

Soozie. You are a hypocrite and a liar.

You have stated over and over and over again that you do not bash other people or programs. Yet, look at your message. You call the OCU posters "shills" and "trolls." That is disgusting, unprofessional and uncalled for.

Let's take a look at some of your past comment about how disguting and wrong it is to bash others:

Well, seems like you have no problem now.

You can't hide from your statments. You are a hypocrite.

Everyone can now clearly see your agenda. You say one thing and then, when it suits your needs or program, do the other. What is scary is that you also are a college advisor for the College Confidential website - a place where parents go to seek guidance for their children. Why would I ever trust someone like you? A parent is going to trust you to provide them with honest advice after this?

You have done a great job of turing anyone away from attending Stagedoor Manor. You and your fellow Stagedoor posters have provided such a negative, back-stabbing image of the camp that I nor any parent I know would ever want to send their child to Stagedoor.

First of all, Soozie was talking about the promoters, not the program itself. And second of all, that's actually laugh out loud hilarious. I can't believe what I'm reading. Backstabbing, negative image? And you call her a hypocrite? Thanks for giving me a good laugh. I can't believe you posted that. You've actually succeeded in making yourself look like a bigger fool than you already were. Wow. What you wrote about stagedoor is the image you're creating for OCU, which is very unfortunate. Looks like stagedoor will be empty next year. Soozie has officially turned everyone off of going, even though it fills up in the fall, with her horrific, rude posts. What a shame.

Using your attempt at sarcasm, all I can say is I'm so glad you are now considering OCU for next summer. It truly is a wonderful program. I'm sure they will be so thrilled to have you!!

I'm not really sure what the point in arguing is. Looking back at this thread, it's kind of comical. The only people arguing your point are the ocu promoters and flicker. The people who actually have hands on experience with OCU are telling you to stop. If you really cared about the program, you would listen to its DIRECTOR who kindly came in here and shared his views. You're fighting against the very thing you're fighting for.

Never say never, That's what my mother told me and here I said I would not enter this thread again.

If I said please, would you all stop this thread? It is hurtfully toned and words are being tossed about in association with OCU that simply do not apply.

We, lovers of MT and education, are better than this exchange would imply. There were well thought out comments and noble stances taken, and then there were ones that none of you should feel too proud about.

There are bigger things to be passionate about. There is a war going on, my nephew is there and we are sick for his safety. There is a Presidential race on, and believe me funding for your education (student loans) and the arts is in a dangerous state.

I go away from this thread, my first, actually pretty happy. I think you guys could handle any bad guys that come our way : ) I feel safer.

Happy thoughts and my thanks to you all for your genuine support of MT and MT educ ation (whether it is at OCU, Stagedoor, or Henry's Discount Musical Theater Camp.) Do not respond on the thread, let's stop. I would be happy to PM.

Thank you once again Dr. Herendeen. To be clear, my objective in posting was to ask posters to stop. I was trying to defend OCU because it is a great program which I have said time and time again. I have not bashed OCU as DoReMi claims. Instead, I have said the program is so good that I hate to see individuals who appear to have no affiliation with the program, but who champion it, post in offensive ways because it detracts from the program itself. I wish they just shared about the program they love so we can learn more about it. I continue to recommend OCU to many students. That is why I dislike observing posters who post in the manner I have witnessed here because I don't think OCU deserves it. I was asking for the behavior to stop. I was supporting OCU itself. I don't know who those posters are who keep posting this way all over the forum but I hope they now see that you, as the director ALSO wish that kind of talk to stop. It is not helping OCU which is a very good training program. That was what I was hoping to accommplish as well because I SUPPORT OCU. I would love to see those who expound on OCU to do so for its merits without putting down other programs. I think you, Dr. Herendeen have rightfully asked for the same thing. So, please just talk about the experiences you have had at programs so that others can learn more from you. That would be way more valuable to prospective students. Thanks all.
