The real date to worry about is Oct 17. This is the date the US officially defaults on its debt. Watch the **** really hit the fan than.
Although Obamacare is deeply flawed this is not the way to change it. The GOP is shooting itself in the foot. They need fight the president to reduce the deficit. He will negotiate with Iran but plays golf rather than meet the GOP.The GOP is at the head of the line as far as blame followed closely by Obama

He doesn't have to negotiate with anyone. The Supreme Court said its LAW. There is NO negotiation. Your Republitard talking points are useless.
The Republicans have shot themselves in the head.

Nice to see you have an open mind. In case you forgot Senator Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling during his brief tenure as a senator. I guess you conviently forgot about that.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, though, the shutdown wasn't brought about by a vote on raising the debt ceiling; that doesn't happen till 10/17. This was because Congress couldn't pass a spending bill, right? And that's because Republicans (or, more specifically, a few Republicans) refused unless it defunded or delayed the ACA.

First the sequester. Now the shutdown. Next up -- debt ceiling and the final destruction of the US economy.
The GOP agenda is coming along swimmingly. I'm finding it hard to believe all the hype about the causes -- if it hadn't been "Obamacare" it would have been something else.

Again, Reg is correct.
Roxy, there really isn't anything you can say that makes the Republitards look any better.
And all of this talk of negotiations is just BS. The Republicans have stated ALL along a that they will do everything within their power to make Obama look like a failure. The only ones they are making look stupid is themselves.
Let's not forget that the republicans LOVED the heath care idea back when Mitt Romey 'thought it up'

It's not just The ACA, the Republican party is essentially demanding that Obama enact the entire 2012 Republican platform.

Am I smoking crack, or hasn't the deficit been reduced by 50%-ish since January 20, 2009?
I mean...that's a fact, right? Maybe not the exact number. But the deficit has gone down drastically in the last 4 years.

You're absolutely correct, Sonof. But those are facts and clearly not relevant here.

Yes. The year with the highest Deficit was 2009,which Republicans blame on Obama. But half that year was under Bush's final budget. The deficit has dropped every year Obama has been in office.
s it true?

And let's not forget that in a recent poll, republicans blame Obama for how hurricane Katrina was handled. So facts and logic aren't exactly their strong points.

If you want a good laugh, here is a facebook page I now regret looking at. I only saw it because someone I know follows it and shares some stuff.
https://www.facebook.com/positivelyrepublican
My favorite quote from there:
Obvious question no one is asking: Since the government shutdown only affects non-essential workers, why do we even have non-essential workers in the first place?
Well, I hope none of these people know anyone who is without a job because of the shutdown right now. I also hope they hated to go to the state and national parks and other areas like that.

I'm shocked to see two of my very gay friends have liked the page and listed themselves as Republicans!
So, I deleted them.

When Obama took office he inherited a debt of nearly 500B which then rose to 1.4T in 2009 due to the financial crisis. Each year the deficit has gone down very slightly 1.3T in 2010, 1.2 in 2011. This year it will be "only" 750B. So the deficit has gone down each year. However, the combined deficits have sent the national debt skyrocketing to levels which become unsustainable because the money is borrowed and must be paid back.
You can blame the Republicans all you want but the fact is that there has not been one budget passed since 2010 and not even one Democrat has voted to pass any of the President's budgets. Both sides are to blame here. So every few months it's crunch time.

And, are you REALLY going to use the Nazi euphemisms? Don't be Suesless.
