According to Channel 2 news, she will announce it on tomorrow's show.
It will have been on 25 years.
Prob moving it to her new network had been the rumor. Wonder if she's doing that or completely ending it.
Yeah, I heard that it was supposed to move to her network.
According to the news report, she was completely ending production of her show.
That incarnation of the show is suppose to end. She's supposed to be taking a different show to her network.

"Oprah's personal comments about this on tomorrow's live show will mark a historic television moment that we will all be talking about for years to come,"
I actually like her and what she's done, but seriously?
Let me be the first to say that I don't get the OPRAH obsession AT ALL and never have or will...
... and is it merely a coincidence that she chose a date with 9/11 in it (09/09/11)? I'm sure it is, but it's still sort of odd... I presume this "event" will be as over-hyped and overexposed as everything else having to do with her, no?

Pgenre - as far as I've been able to put together, you were born pretty close to the time that she began her national broadcasts, so you couldn't really be expected to have any kind of perspective on what she or her show meant at the time. And that obviously precludes any real awareness of what came before that in her career, which led to her explosion on the national scene.
I will agree there. I'm convinced she has ties to the mafia because of everything she seems to be able to do and get.

"everything she seems to be able to do and get."
Money talks.
I can't believe this is the lead story on ABC news right now.

this was posted a few days ago as a blind item:
This television star has gained a lot of weight over the past couple of years. Because this has been an ongoing issue, s/he has started seeing a therapist to get to the root of the problem. It turns out that the star’s hypocrisy in living one life in public – and a different one in private – creates anxiety and depression which, in turn, trigger binge eating.
According to the therapist, the issue will not be resolved until our star comes out of the closet. The star is actually considering it, but is worried about the timing of the announcement, and its potential career and financial impact. Will their career wither? Will their finances suffer? While we don’t know for sure, we do know that a competitor who has done so is thriving in a similar career.
hmmmmm.........
Damn Oprah. It's my dream to be on her show just so I can get the yell. "Today's guest is Aaaaaaaaamberrrrrrrrrr SomethiiiiiingorOtherrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Girly - what do you want, actual NEWS?!?
They stopped covering that LONG ago.
But, the sad fact is, there are probably many who will feel more impacted by this than other things - like the war(s), for example.
Now, that's news that probably should be covered. Somehow. Somewhere.

That O better have something new to step right into because who would ever have thought Phil Donahue would disappear so quickly from pop culture consciousness? Gone and forgotten. It'd happen to O too if she weren't so addicted to having her face everywhere.

Yea. I'm sure she's losing a lot of sleep over it.
Pgenre, I found the date to be odd also. Why end the show at the beginning of a TV season? I am assuming she picked that date for a reason. Wonder if that might be the date of her first show?

According to press releases, it's the date her contract expires. It picked itself.
Thanks Q. I really haven't paid that much attention to it other than catching on on every news broadcast this morning and late yesterday. I really didn't pay much attention. Yes, the woman has definetly done a lot of good but I haven't been a fan for years now. I just have some issues with her.
Actually the finale date is (almost) 25 years to the day that her show premiered on September 8, 1986.
Its rumored that she'll start a new show on the OWN channel sort of how she did "Fridays Live From Chicago" episodes. I personally liked it. Any reason to see Mark Consuelos works for me.
I still don't get why this was announced like it is the biggest news that will be happening tomorrow or something. It's a little less than 2 years away.
And the mock emotion during the announcement was just a little too much for me.
