I'm sure you're right. I'm just carrying on because of my awe of Nicholson!
Here's why, Reggie. I was once an extra on the set of As GOod as it Gets. Boring as usual, but one day everyone was just standing around, waiting for something, ANYTHING to happen, when all of a sudden I felt something in the air. It was very quiet, and I looked down onto the sidewalk from the porch I had to stand on, and there was Jack Nicholson, walking down the empty street, kind of strutting, but not with any kind of an attitude. He was beaming from ear to ear, looking from right to left, like he was trying to welcome everyone. I knew I was in the company of greatness. His energy filled the entire city block. No joke.
btw - Helen Hunt was also on the set that day and was grouchy and frowning with her head down all day. just sayin'
I got a ton of em, but instead of boring people who don't want to hear them I started a book a few years ago.
I didn't find the Onion's joke about Quevenzhane Wallis funny in the least, but I have to admit that I was pretty over her by the third time the camera showed her doing her "whoop-whoop" arms. She was way too precocious. Even on the Red Carpet I thought she could have exhibited a little more awe for where she was.

It seems that Michelle Obama's numerous appearances lately have received some criticism lately.
Michelle Obama's 'charm offensive' draws criticism
Oh...her appearances have been criticized by Jennifer Rubin and Donny Deutsch?
Two people who wouldn't know charm if it kicked them in the face.
Tom
I was a little shocked when I watched Octavia Spencer congratulate the little girl and say, "I can't wait to work with you some day! maybe play your mom!" And she got this look on her face, like she was smelling dog poop and said, "Maybe..."
She came across as a little spoiled.
I didn't see that Diva. When did that happen? When Octavia was presenting Best Supporting Actor?
Thank you, Reg, for the info about the other WH appearances! My cousin was all up in arms that Michelle was on, and shouldn't have been on, and what was she doing there...blah, blah, blah. I was able to shut her up quickly when I mentioned the few other appearances that have occurred over the years.

Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
I might have been the only one who noticed that during the red carpet, they superimposed the name Viola Davis when Octavia Spencer went by.
Tom, I agree with you. I don't like it when little children have so much show biz sophistication either.

Seth M. says there's no way he'll do it again, and I for one say thank GOD for that.
Good News!!
i just wish politicians no matter who/what party would just butt out and not have to be involved....youre not involved in the movies! so sick of all of them. its always so lame
I had been such a fan of Beasts of the Southern Wild and Quevenzhane Wallis, but really started to sour on her as the awards season progressed, and thought she needed more than a couple of time outs at the Oscars. I feel a little bad picking on a 9 year old, but I think I'm really picking on her parents and her team, which is still not nice, but is ok. She thinks she's too cute for own good, and her behavior at the Oscars, both on the red carpet and in the auditorium, was obnoxious, even for a 9 year old. It certainly seemed lacking in both humility and respect. You have to be carefully taught, and she either hasn't been, or has failed those lessons. There's a classy and dignified way to behave and present yourself, even when you're 9, and I hope she learns these things quickly, because she came off as a little beast in the making, and it makes me want to avoid, rather than support, her next film.

Yeah, darion, since we've never had a former actor as a President before. Oh, but wait...

You know, Sue, Michelle Obama didn't ask to be a presenter- she was approached by the academy and accepted their invitation. Same with Bill Clinton and the Golden Globes.
I personally saw no reason for either of them to be involved but asking them to "butt out" of a situation where they were invited....

I think people want them to butt out because they aren't Republican.
In defense of Quvenzhane Wallis:
Ain't no one better at smelling bullSH*T than a nine year old. She made a movie, got an Oscar nom, and then proceeded to act like a real, honest-to-God kid.
I'd much rather see that than those terrifying, media-trained 'children' who are so polished as to be inhuman.
i dont care if its her or anne romney, though im sure some who dont mind MO would not like if Ann was there. reagan was an actor and the union president so i guess that was that connection but its still just politics, he had nothing to do with movies at that point either im guessing. i went to a ballgame this year and the mayor was there to throw out the first baseball. who needs that? it was fun booing him though.

What does it say about a person who spells a person's name two different ways in the same sentence?
She made a movie, got an Oscar nom, and then proceeded to act like a real, honest-to-God kid.
That's one of the endearing things about Jennifer Lawrence, too.
Exactly. And that's what bothers some people about Anne Hathaway...it seems a little studied.
But notice we're only talking this way about the women actors. Which makes me very, very depressed.
I prefer the natural, being-one's-self approach instead of the "I'm surprised! You can tell that, right?" or the "I am an artist. Awards mean nothing. They are like dust."
Robbie, that's because no little boys or young men win! nya nya!
