Another Ken Burns documentary, "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History", will be repeated soon on some PBS stations.
It reminded me that when we elect a Preisdent, we are also sending his (as of now) families into the limelight. Dating back to the beginning of our country with the election of George Washington, I most admire the Franklin Roosevelt family. He and Eleanor served this nation admirably during very difficult years and were, without doubt, heroes.
Do you have favorite People's House families?

HG probably has me blocked, so I may as well speak freely. What a bizarre question. The families should remain private as far as I'm concerned. We have zero claim over them, this is not a Royal Family scenario.
To answer the question, I suppose I'd go with Millard Filmore's daughter Mary. Lovely girl.

Highland Guy posed a very benign question. He didn't ask for gossip or salacious details.
Like it or not, the First Family gets ample media attention even with the extra privacy boundaries typically extended to the children. it is pretty easy to form impressions, albeit incomplete ones, from that and what POTUS and FLOTUS choose to share.
I was just a little grumpy when I made that post. I still find it weird to judge who had the best family. In any other profession, it would be odd and downright problematic to do such a thing.
Perhaps there is a smidge of merit in the concept of monarchy if it allows the actual power-holders to avoid such inanity and intrusion.
Unrelated, but I also find it perplexing that the OP on one hand praises Ken Burns, then on the other hand calls FDR a hero. Did he not see Ken's docu series "The US and the Holocaust"? The man was FAR from a hero. I guess if you look at those events from a MAGA-style America First angle, I guess he could be portrayed as a hero. From a humanity angle… not so much.
When I walked around NYC when I was in college in the 1990s, I saw messages painted on the streets that said "NO MORE PRESIDENTS." That's my answer to the question. No more presidents, no more first ladies, no more first families. It's all a bunch of nonsense.

Agree, but Highland Guy did not ask for best family. He asked about having a favorite family.
What's the difference?

Perhaps nothing to you, but I agree with this AI generated distinction:
"Favorite refers to something that is personally preferred or liked the most, often based on subjective personal taste. Best refers to a more objective or universally accepted standard, implying superior quality, merit, or skill within a particular category."
This distinction is why I find what HG originally posted to be quite benign.

Okay, you're dumb.
No, I’m not… but thanks for such a quality contribution to the thread.
