PC to Mac?

Hey there,

Alright, so I have been a PC guy my whole life. I've been looking into getting a new laptop recently, and I've been strongly considering the MacBook Aluminum.

Now, I've never used a Mac in my life, but I've heard a lot of good things about them, and I kinda want to try something new. My current laptop isn't that great, and the Macbook would very much be a step-up.

My question is, how many of you have gone from using a PC to a Mac? Did it take you a long time to get used to? Does anyone do any gaming on their Mac? Just looking for some information from people who have actually experienced this, rather than a salesman.

Lets see, it took about an hour to get used to and I will never go back to a PC unless I am forced
I don't do gaming on here, but, w/e

PC to Mac is like working on the chain gang in Spartacus to relaxing on the couch with remote in hand. I'll NEVER go back!

The hardest part was getting used to no right click on the mouse. I was the king of the right click. (You can hit control and click and get the "right click" screen)

re: PC to Mac?

I JUST switched from PC to Mac about a month ago. I spilled water on my old Dell and refused to get another. I will never go back. I got the new aluminum macbook and I absolutely love love love it! The mouse pad take a bit to get used to but once you do it is awesome. There are a bunch of cool tricks with it. The mac is just so much simpler to use. I had used one of my friend's macs before so I was a little familiar with it, but it took no time getting used to it. It's great! Definitely do it!

Sorry, I don't do any gaming though so I can't help you with that.

re: PC to Mac?

I switched from PC to Macbook in late January I think, and love it. I do play games, but just a few, Sims, Civilization and have had no problem.

What I can't figure out is how to get all my music of my PC ITUNES to my MAC itunes.....seems if I synch to the new Mac, I lose anything I added myself......p

re: PC to Mac?

I went from PC to Mac last summer, and it took my probably a week to figure out the different tricks on the Mac (such as right-click, etc.) but once I got the hang of it my Mac became my new best friend and I would never, ever, ever go back to PC.

(You can hit control and click and get the "right click" screen)

You can also click with two fingers on the trackpad. Or at least I've set it that way, I can't remember if that's the default.

Actually, they make mice for the mac with two buttons and a scroll wheel.

Yes, I have the regular mouse on my iMac, but I don't have a mouse with my macbook.

re: PC to Mac?

Okay, so I finally bought my new MacBook today. I am still learning a lot about it, but the biggest problem that I'm finding is my inability to make a page full screen in safari. Other than that, I'm really diggin' it.

Ya learn something new everyday, don't ya. It works on my computer, so it has to be default.

re: PC to Mac?

As nice as Safari is, it is so unbelievably incompatible with my school's programs that I use FireFox.

Yeah, Safari sucks for my school email, so I use Firefox for that, otherwise I use Safari and love it

Macs don't really maximize and minimize windows the same way that Windows does, but the green button in the top left corner (a + will show up when you put your arrow there) should pretty much maximize it. (The yellow button in the middle will minimize.)

re: PC to Mac?

The function of the green button though, is not to Maximize, it's to expand the window to fit its contents.

The analogy is, if you are on a desk, you don't have a sheet of paper that covers the entire desk and everything else on it (aka maximizing).
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

re: PC to Mac?

but also, if you WANT to maximize it, you do have that option. You just click the bottom right corner and drag until it fits the whole screen. I always do it :)
