I love Dolores. The movie plays like a feverish dream, the eclipse stuff genuinely freaky and unique.

Just this year - David Oyelowo should have been nominated and should win Best Actor in my opinion.

I know that Jessica Lange has two Oscars, but I would have loved to have seen her get a nomination for the remake of "The Postman Always Rings Twice". She was really able to hold her own against Jack Nicholson...

One of the great things about watching Lange now -- and I include her stunning portrait of Big Edie in the GREY GARDENS movie -- is to realize how good she always was. We can wish she had a bigger body of film work. Yet much of what she did holds up beautifully. I've always liked her, and was a minority opinion about her Amanda in MENAGERIE. Despite the off-focus, sometimes just wrong work swirling around her, she was luminous. I wish I'd seen it twice.

This year, in addition to Jake Gyllenhaal's splendid turn in NIGHTCRAWLER not getting a nomination, an even more egregious absence is Josh Brolin's magnificent comic performance in INHERENT VICE, possibly the funniest single male supporting performance since Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion.
